Our old house had a dusty blue shiplap wall and I absolutely loved it but I wanted something different in our new house. Move in day Phase 1: Master Bedroom Decor I really love this space but I went back and forth about a million times deciding if I should do an accent wall or not. • How To Paint A Front Door

We have a super fun project to share with you guys today. One that applies to basically everyone, no matter your style, taste or even skill level! Today we’re sharing how to paint a front door (or repaint). We are painting the exterior of Savannah’s front entry door of her house today. She’s in a rental so we knew we would just be able to do cosmetic updates to the outside.  The plan was to paint the front door, some other paint updates (the step under the door, repaint the foundation, facia and door casing), add shutters, a window box and some plants and flowers. If you’re in a rental, be sure to check with your landlord first before painting a door! The front door was replaced a few months ago. It came primed but not painted and she waited and waited until she decided on the perfect color to paint it.  She finally decided she wanted a deep, rich navy so we got to work! • Modern Ranch Reno: Backyard Plans

Super excited to share our backyard landscape ideas with you. I am so lucky that I have a crazy talented Dad. He owns a landscaping company called D&B Landscaping here in Mesa, AZ and he did a beautiful design for us. Before we start with a plan take a look at what we were dealing with. As I started my backyard I started by writing down all my backyard landscape ideas. Before/Move in day You can see our full Before pictures when we bought the house HERE This is what the backyard looked liked when we moved in. It was beyond overgrown. I can’t even believe that we could see past it all. I like to think that I have vision but this was so crazy! First, thing we had to do was clear everything out so that we could really see what we were dealing with. We hired some help and the poor guy was stung by several scorpions, several different times. Poor guys. Creating a Game Plan After everything was cleared out we walked the backyard several different…

  • Modern Ranch Reno: New Front Door and Hardware

My front door was in need of a major makeover. At my last house I had a Schlage key pad lock and I loved it. When I say love it I mean LOVE IT! I could never ever go back to a keyed entry front door lock.  There is something very convenient about having a keyless entry. It’s so nice for friends and family that may need to get into my house. It is so nice when I have to carry in loads from the car and my 5 year old can unlock the front door for me. Then to top it all off this hardware that I used on my front is connected to an app on my phone and it sends me a message every time that my door is locked and unlocked. It gives me such a peace of mind. The second I moved into my new house I knew that it was one of the first things that I wanted to add to the new house. I wanted/needed a new front door to go along with…

  • Prescott View Home Reno: Add legs to Ikea couches

Ever wondered how to add legs to ikea couches? …or pretty much any couches or any furniture?  Ever since I bought these Ikea sofas, I wanted to add legs to them to raise them up higher. My Ikea Couches I have had the Ikea KIVIK for a couple of years now. These Ikea couches are seriously wonderful. They’re comfortable, modern looking and have washable covers. You can’t beat that. Unfortunately, there are not ikea legs to add to them. I searched for some ikea legs to help me raise the height of the Ikea KIVIK to no avail. In our last house, the low height didn’t bother me but for whatever reason, they felt so bottom heavy and too low for this space. Today I’ll show you a super easy way to add legs to your ikea couches! I loved the set up we had in the space but it really felt heavy and the couches felt so bulky. I found these legs on Amazon and after inspecting the bottom of the Ikea couches, I found that it’d be super easy…

  • Easy DIY Sharpie Wall Tutorial

I am finally writing up this Sharpie wall tutorial for you guys! I drug my feet for months because I didn’t take process photos (bad blogger!) so I’m going to show you on the wall already completed and do a lot of explaining in the process. I promise, it’s so so so sooooooo easy! Materials: Sharpie Paint Pen (I used gold in medium tip) Level Pencil Ladder or step-stool (depending on ceiling height) Level: Beginner Time: 1-4 hours (depending on size of wall) First, I started from the bottom and measured and marked (with a pencil – lightly!) every 12″ both vertically and horizontally. Then, using a the straight edge of the level, I drew a giant grid of 12″ squares on the entire wall with a pencil. I started at the bottom left corner and worked my way up then over to the right. I did this because I don’t care if there is a halfsie or less square at the top but I didn’t want the bottom one to get cut off if I had started at the top.…
