How to Install a Door Knob | Schlage Review

Like everyone else, when we moved into our new home my project list grew to a MILE long (and still is! haha). Since the beginning, we had to prioritize projects, which is why we chose to tackle some of the huge renovations first, like filling in our sunken living room, updating our flooring, and eventually remodeling our kitchen! While the large projects definitely make an impact, it’s the details that bring the house together and make it look complete!

Step-By-Step Instructions

  1. Step 1:

    Install the back plate.

  2. Step 2:

Install the latch. Add the faceplate and make sure it’s centered

  3. Step 3:

Install the strike into the door frame.

  4. Step 4:

    Install the exterior chassis.

  5. Step 5:

Install the interior chassis while holding the exterior chassis in place. Push the pegs firmly into the slots.

  6. Step 6:

Install the chassis screws and make sure it is straight.

  7. Step 7:

Install the interior and exterior trim. Align the hole and the trim with the hole in the chassis. Repeat for the other side of the door!

  8. Step 8:

Install the exterior knob/lever and push it firmly in the spindle. Next use the hex wrench to tighten the set screw.

Why We Are Updating our Hardware

One project that we never got to? Making sure we had matching hardware throughout our house. We had a lot of mixed metals and styles going on and the inconsistency room to room was driving me mad! It looked inconsistent.

Of course, we are using Schlage!

In my last house, we had upgraded the hardware to Schlage because the contemporary designs brought that extra level of sophistication to the interior. Now that I know the quality and beauty of Schlage, I have been so excited to do the same with #savannahsmodernranchhouse!

We have their newest lock, the Schlage Encode Smart Wi-Fi Deadbolt, installed alongside a full interior door hardware overhaul, to give our home some character with the traditional styles, satin brass metals and glass knobs. Let’s talk about this hardware! We selected some items from the Schlage Custom collection, and oh boy … This was by far the easiest hardware to install. We have installed a lot of door hardware and because this collection was designed for interchangeability, it made the process quick and easy.

What We Chose:

We wanted a custom look – and that is what we got!

The amazing part about Schlage’s hardware is that it can all be customized – from the knob style to the color of the plate, I chose every detail that brought together this absolutely stunning look! The glass on the knobs is such a showstopper and I never knew I could feel that way about a door knob!

You can do the same by checking out their product line here.

Installation was super easy!

We installed all of the hardware the same day! Schlage’s instructions make is very easy to install securely – anyone can do this! Here are the instructions we followed:
