Super excited to share our backyard landscape ideas with you. I am so lucky that I have a crazy talented Dad. He owns a landscaping company called D&B Landscaping here in Mesa, AZ and he did a beautiful design for us. Before we start with a plan take a look at what we were dealing with. As I started my backyard I started by writing down all my backyard landscape ideas.
Before/Move in day
You can see our full Before pictures when we bought the house HERE
This is what the backyard looked liked when we moved in. It was beyond overgrown. I can’t even believe that we could see past it all. I like to think that I have vision but this was so crazy!
First, thing we had to do was clear everything out so that we could really see what we were dealing with. We hired some help and the poor guy was stung by several scorpions, several different times. Poor guys.
Creating a Game Plan
After everything was cleared out we walked the backyard several different times with my dad and went over what we wanted in the backyard. We talked about how because of where the pool is located the strip of grass behind the pool was never used and was wasted space. Also, we talked about a trampoline for the kids and a few other things that the kids would love. After that my dad worked on a plan for us that worked in our budget and allowed us to do the backyard in phases and a backyard that worked better for our family.
This did not happen over night. We have had the plans for the backyard for over a yard. My husband and I have been working on many other projects around our house, and we also needed to save all the dollars. But it was so great to have a game plan so we knew what we were work towards.
Backyard Landscape Ideas
Beyond excited about these plans! A few things are going to be different. Next to the trampoline closest to my house will be a kids play set and we did a round trampoline not a rectangle one like we were planning on.
Walk through
I wanted to show you a bit more of how my yard is right now and show you exactly where everything is so a post this YouTube Video of a walk through of the yard. You can check it out HERE:

June 30, 2019 at 2:36 pmThis looks great! The pergolas will add a very nice shaded area right next to the pool! We as a company are actually looking into building more “pool decking” as well as patios surrounding pools. So this article helps with visualization big time!
