  • How To Paint A Front Door

We have a super fun project to share with you guys today. One that applies to basically everyone, no matter your style, taste or even skill level! Today we’re sharing how to paint a front door (or repaint). We are painting the exterior of Savannah’s front entry door of her house today. She’s in a rental so we knew we would just be able to do cosmetic updates to the outside.  The plan was to paint the front door, some other paint updates (the step under the door, repaint the foundation, facia and door casing), add shutters, a window box and some plants and flowers. If you’re in a rental, be sure to check with your landlord first before painting a door! The front door was replaced a few months ago. It came primed but not painted and she waited and waited until she decided on the perfect color to paint it.  She finally decided she wanted a deep, rich navy so we got to work! • Modern Ranch Reno: Backyard Plans

Super excited to share our backyard landscape ideas with you. I am so lucky that I have a crazy talented Dad. He owns a landscaping company called D&B Landscaping here in Mesa, AZ and he did a beautiful design for us. Before we start with a plan take a look at what we were dealing with. As I started my backyard I started by writing down all my backyard landscape ideas. Before/Move in day You can see our full Before pictures when we bought the house HERE This is what the backyard looked liked when we moved in. It was beyond overgrown. I can’t even believe that we could see past it all. I like to think that I have vision but this was so crazy! First, thing we had to do was clear everything out so that we could really see what we were dealing with. We hired some help and the poor guy was stung by several scorpions, several different times. Poor guys. Creating a Game Plan After everything was cleared out we walked the backyard several different…

  • Modern Ranch Reno: New Front Door and Hardware

My front door was in need of a major makeover. At my last house I had a Schlage key pad lock and I loved it. When I say love it I mean LOVE IT! I could never ever go back to a keyed entry front door lock.  There is something very convenient about having a keyless entry. It’s so nice for friends and family that may need to get into my house. It is so nice when I have to carry in loads from the car and my 5 year old can unlock the front door for me. Then to top it all off this hardware that I used on my front is connected to an app on my phone and it sends me a message every time that my door is locked and unlocked. It gives me such a peace of mind. The second I moved into my new house I knew that it was one of the first things that I wanted to add to the new house. I wanted/needed a new front door to go along with…

Here are a few of the cute rugs that we already have in our own homes. We love all of these inexpensive rugs and all of them are less then $200. • Easy DIY Sharpie Wall Tutorial

I am finally writing up this Sharpie wall tutorial for you guys! I drug my feet for months because I didn’t take process photos (bad blogger!) so I’m going to show you on the wall already completed and do a lot of explaining in the process. I promise, it’s so so so sooooooo easy! Materials: Sharpie Paint Pen (I used gold in medium tip) Level Pencil Ladder or step-stool (depending on ceiling height) Level: Beginner Time: 1-4 hours (depending on size of wall) First, I started from the bottom and measured and marked (with a pencil – lightly!) every 12″ both vertically and horizontally. Then, using a the straight edge of the level, I drew a giant grid of 12″ squares on the entire wall with a pencil. I started at the bottom left corner and worked my way up then over to the right. I did this because I don’t care if there is a halfsie or less square at the top but I didn’t want the bottom one to get cut off if I had started at the top.…

  • Park Home Reno: Living Room Makeover

Park Home Reno: Living Room Makeover I’m so excited to share this space today! I decided to take a few photos before I got my Christmas decor up this year. We still have a few things to do in this room but here it is for now! This is what the front room looked like when we first moved in. It’s literally the exact view right when you walk into our house. First, I painted all of the walls Behr Frost (satin) and the navy wall is Behr Starless Night (flat), my FAVORITE navy right now. We installed Reverie Sputnik Chandelier from Lucent Light Shop. I built the mantel using the same method as I did in my old house. You can get that tutorial here. DIY Fireplace Mantel. I’ve linked all of the sources for where I got everything at the end of the post after the photos.   I love my blue/white glass collection and I actually have a new place for the collection to go soon but I’ve loved collecting these lamps, jars, vases etc! • DIY Fall Entry Way

This post is sponsored by Krylon® Brand.. All ideas and opinions are our own. DIY Fall Entry Way Fall is by far one of our favorite times of the year.  It seems like we wait all year for the temperatures to drop down to an enjoyable level. This year, I decided to give my entryway area a fall refresh to bring that feeling I love into my home with Krylon®) Brand. My old entry table was starting to look tired and worn but I absolutely love this piece so I knew it was time for a makeover. I used 3 cans of Krylon® ColorMaster™ Paint + Primer in Hunter Green It took 2-3 coats to cover the previous paint color. I absolutely love the vibrant green that is so on trend right now in home decor and interior design. I finished off the piece by painting the knobs with 3 coats of Krylon Premium Metallic in Copper Foil. I used less than a can for all of the knobs. I always like to do an extra coat of paint on things that…

  • Park Home Reno: Master Bedroom Reveal

Park Home Reno: Master Bedroom Reveal It’s finally time for my master bedroom reveal in our new house. I was still loving our old room when we moved but when you move, you kind of want a fresh start sometimes so I made a few tweaks from our old bedroom and did a full refresh! Here’s what the space looked like on move-in day! I repainted the room in Behr Frost (the white I used throughout my house) and got a new rose gold canopy bed and that really set the stage for the makeover. PS. I’ll list all sources at the end of the post. 🙂 I have reused my dressers and nightstands in (now) 3 room makeovers so all those hours putting together Ikea furniture was worth it. I’m actually surprised at how well the Ikea furniture has held up. I really love how the space turned out! It feels clean, cozy and romantic which is the feeling I was after in this space. I’ve linked the sources for everything in the room below. Bedding: White Duvet – Jane.com Grey…

  • Park Home Reno: Laundry Room Makeover

Park Home Reno: Laundry Room Makeover Hi friends! Mallory here! I’m still alive and I am excited to finally be sharing a Laundry Room Makeover with you all! This pregnancy and broken foot have really slowed me down! haha! The laundry room, as you can imagine, gets a lot of use in a family of 6 (almost 7!).  I have always felt that its easier to do tasks that you don’t particularly like when you enjoy the space you’re in. Luckily, this was not a huge renovation and mostly needed cosmetic upgrades to fit our style and a few changes for the function of the space.  The previous owners (and our dear friends!) installed beautiful wood-looking tile, new cabinets and a beautiful countertop which already provided an excellent layout and function to the space. We were due for a little upgrade, mostly regarding size, of our old washer and dryer! We worked with Home Depot and ordered a new washer and dryer online. Man, I love ordering things online and The Home Depot makes it so easy. If you follow…

  • Modern Farmhouse Kitchen Makeover

This post is sponsored by our friends at Elkay. All opinions are our own. Modern Farmhouse Kitchen Makeover I am so excited to finally see this project complete! I got to do something a little different for this project and play the interior designer for one of my dear friends, Lindsay and her family. My sweet friend and her husband Ryan are super handy and fellow DIY lovers! For their makeover, we worked together to plan their makeover, pick finishes and decor! Funny story, Lindsay and her husband are our realtors for our last 2 homes we’ve purchased. (2 in 2 years!) Over the summer, they told us they found their dream fixer upper and were going to sell their current home… then asked if we wanted to buy it! I joked with them in the past that if they ever sold their home, I wanted it and that day actually came! So… long story short, I live in their old house (#mallorysparkhome) and they are renovating their dream fixer upper farmhouse about 2 minutes away! They purchased their new house as…

  • DIY Macramé Wall Hanging

This post is sponsored by Fiskars. All ideas and opinions are my own. DIY Macramé Wall Hanging I am so excited about this project! Many of you saw our sneak peek on Instagram stories and you were excited about it too which makes us EVEN MORE excited! We’ve partnered with Fiskars in celebration of the 50th anniversary of their iconic Orange-handled Scissors! The color of the scissors inspired us to create a bit of a throwback project to the popular 1960’s trend, macramé! And, Fiskars Orange-handled Scissors were also a product of the 1960’s! We are so excited to celebrate 50 years with them! Materials: Fiskars Original Orange-handled Scissors 400 feet of thin rope 3-4′ wooden dowel tape basic knowledge of macramé knots or watch our video (here) on the 3 knots needed for this piece. • Modern Ranch Reno: How to Re-Grout a Brick Fireplace

I really did need to do something to update a brick fireplace. Since I moved into my house one of the first things I was dying to get my hands on was this fireplace in our main family room. I wanted to try and re-grout the brick fireplace so that it looked more my style. Never ever have I re-grouted anything before and I did not have any experience with brick but I really wanted to make it happen. So I was totally shocked at how easy re-grouting my brick fireplace really was. Using 4 bags of white mortar and a little bit of hard work I re-grouted my fireplace. The steps are very easy. Anyone with any kind of DIY experience can do this project. Although, it did take time for sure but that could be that I have very tall ceilings and it made it a bit more difficult to do the fireplace. You can see even more before picture of my Modern Ranch Reno HERE. I love how the white mortar really helped to soften the look in…
