The Best Engineered Hardwood – Mallory’s Classic Colonial Flooring Sources

It feels so freaking awesome to finally be posting about the new house, including our engineered hardwoods!! I’ve finally chosen the flooring for most of our house and most of it is installed now! Yahoo! Instead of answering a ton of emails and direct messages on social media, I thought I’d write down everything you need to know or may be curious about!

I am so excited to share about my engineered hardwoods because they are here and they are seriously amazing.

The Best Engineered Hardwood Floors

Why We Chose Engineered Hardwoords

For the main flooring throughout out house, we chose engineered hardwood floors. Hardwood floors have come a long way in regards to durability and there are more affordable options on the market than ever before.

What we Chose for our Engineered Hardwoods

We chose European White Oak Wide Plank floors. They have a micro-beveled edge and we used the glue-down installation method. You can read all about the exact flooring and find a retailer on Garrison’s website here.

Where We Placed Engineered Hardwoods in Our Home

Have you seen my kitchen reveal? We actually did a herringbone pattern in there which turned out great!

Carpet

We chose to do carpet in our kids bedrooms, guest room and family media room. I choose the Lifeproof Carpet from the mothership, Home Depot. I used a 1/2″ thick pad and every single person that walks on the carpet comments on how soft and comfortable it is! It really is so comfy and amazing! I will go into MUCH more detail on a separate blog post talking about my experience with Home Depot and the carpet installers very soon.

Carpet specs: Lifeproof Briarmoor II (Color – Flintstone)

Checkered Tile – Entry Way

This tile was a bear to track down and find the perfect product for my vision. I literally visited a ton of stores and after a ton of trial and error, finally found the EXACT tile I wanted. I had a professional tile installer do the installation and it was definitely the right decision as the job was pretty intense, especially with the border I wanted. This space is so close but needs a ton of touch ups and things finished so I’ll share the full reveal soon!

Entry Way Tile:

Black – Absolute Black Granite Floor tiles (12×12″)

White – For the white, I found what they call and opportunity buy at Floor & Decor. It’s 12×12 Dolomite Polished Marble but it isn’t on their website. Here’s the label, in case that’s helpful.

Guest Bathroom Tile

We used the Festival White and Black Basket Weave II Porcelain Mosaic in the guest bathroom. This leads out to the pool area which is going to have a black and white color palette going on so I wanted it to tie into that. It’s under $3 a square foot and beautiful. I chose black grout and we love how it turned out!

Laundry Room Tile

This laundry room tile turned out SO cute and it is insanely inexpensive. We used the Florentina Gray Ceramic Tile. At a whopping $0.74 a square foot, it adds the perfect punch of personality for this space. Full makeover coming soon!

Mudroom / Storage Room Tile

For this area we used Moda Del Mar Woodfield Lane Matte Porcelain Tile and I am SO in love with it. I like that it’s inexpensive ($1.99 a piece) with a bright white feel but the pattern and wood grain is beautiful.

So, are we loving the flooring we chose?

Yes, absolutely! Everything, including the engineered hardwoods, are holding up so well! It was the perfect decision for our home!
