DIY Drink Cooler – Perfect for a Tailgating Party!

I spent most of my childhood at the baseball fields and at many football games. I am the oldest of six kids. I have two brothers and both of them where very big into sports. My uncle Brian played in the Major League in baseball and my brother Stetson, who is just 18 months younger than me, was all around MVP at our high school for baseball and football. He was later drafted by the Dodgers and he played in the minor league until he got injured and decided to stay at home after his first child was born. So when I say my childhood was spent going to many sports events I was not kidding.

Tailgating and sports go hand and hand. When I think about tailgating I think about hanging out, hot dogs, hamburgers and ice cold sodas.

I found a brown Drink Cooler with black legs on wheels and I knew I wanted it for sports events and to also use at other parties too. I did not love the color but I knew that would be an easy fix.

I used Krylon® Chalky Finish spray paint in Scarlet to make over this brownish colored Drink Cooler into something way more fun.

How fun is that?!?!? I love the color!

Now, let me tell you how I transformed this dull cooler into a show stopper. I choose to use this Chalky Finish spray paint for the cooler because it has more of a matte finish and I liked that it felt a bit more vintage.

Then, I taped off all the parts of the cooler that I did not want to get spray painted including  the handles,

and also some of the inside.

I sprayed a nice light and even coat of spray paint then I let that dry and I painted a second coat. Be sure to always read the product label for proper application and safety instructions.

I love the coverage of the Krylon chalky finish spray paint. I only used about a can and half for this large Drink Cooler and it was a very quick project!

Once the paint was fully cured, I added a vinyl decal that said Ice Cold Drinks for a little bit of added personality.

Now I am already for game day. I am excited about this little cooler. It’s the perfect color and it stands out way more then the brown color. It’s perfect for all kinds of sporting events and even outdoor parties. Nothing like a good makeover that can be done in one afternoon. Now the question is, are you ready for some football?

We are excited to be working with Krylon for this project.  Opinions are my own and additional products used in the project were selected by us.

Much Love sign-2
