Living Room Refresh with Jewel Tones

Since Fall is in full swing and winter is on it’s way (it’s snowing in NY right now!) and I really wanted to bring some deeper tones into the space. I have been crushing on jewel tones this season so I switched out a couple of things and my Living Room was completely transformed! I really love how it turned out!

Living Room Mood Board

This was my brainstorming mood board for the space. I love the rich color and gold and black & white accents!

Although the room looks totally different (to me anyway!) I mostly only swapped out the textiles and moved things I already had around the house. I did, however, repaint my lamps from navy to white.  I also added the Ikea Hack nesting coffee table. I can’t wait to share that tutorial with you! I’m obsessed with the coffee table! haha!

I considered painting the coral tv console but realized I liked how it tied in the coral in the purple rug. I’m trying to get away from a matchy matchy color scheme and let the rooms I design come together more organically and I really love how it turned out.

My favorite little reading nook got a new throw gold herringbone throw pillow (from Target!) and I threw my black and white striped throw blanket on it.  The black and white throw is from Ikea but I got it on Amazon (you can get one here).

Living Room Makeover 5

Our house is pretty little and with 4 little boys living here, we ran out of a place for our family computer so I created this little office area in the living room. I was reluctant to do it at first but when we ran out of other options, I put my cream chalk painted desk in here and found a gorgeous ghost chair at Homegoods. Now I actually love having it in this space so I can watch Friends and blog at the same time! When the kiddos watch a movie, I can be in there with them and still manage to get some work done.

The zebra/chevron pillow is from Target too.

You may remember my DIY Macramé hanging planters from my Master Bedroom. I decided they needed a new home and I LOVE them in this space. The large ornate mirror was a flea market find. I got two of them for $10!!! Can you believe that!?

Layered Rugs from Ikea and Urban Outfitters

So this was a bit of a risk for me and a little out of my comfort zone but I decided to layer these two rugs and I love the look! You may have seen a sneak peek of this if you follow us on Instagram (@classyclutter). The black and white rug is from Ikea and the Pink/Purple “magic carpet” is from Urban Outfitters.

Yep, I took down my gold glam gallery wall and went for a simpler look. I built the ledge above my sofa and found a few frames around the house, mirror from my old gallery wall and chalkboard  to create a smaller gallery wall. I seriously need to update those pictures considering that family photo is missing two of my kids! That photo was taken shortly after we moved to New York and now I have 4 little boys! So crazy how time flies.

The floral pillow is from WillaSkyeHome on Etsy. I have two of those zebra/chevron pillows and again, they’re from Target.

Living Room Pillows

The velvet leopard pillow (might be my favorite pillow ever!) and it’s also from WillaSkyeHome and the teal one is from Pier One.

Just for fun, I thought I would show you the drastic changes that this room has gone through since we moved here in 2011. We have repainted from grey to white, refinished the wood floors beneath the dingy carpet and redecorated as my style has evolved.

I always love when people list where they got the items used in a room so you can get them if you’d like so I included a source list below. Hope you guys like the makeover. It’s for sure one of my favorites!
