Personalized Faux Mudroom
Hi friends! I’m pretty excited because today is another Michael’s Makers challenge! This month we were challenged to personalize something. The best part about creating in your home is being able to put your own spin on a project. Whether it’s decorating with marquee lights or crafting an initial that represents your family name, Michaels has made it easy with their new Alphabet Soup by Make Market™ line of products. I chose the first initial of each of my children for this project.
I knew right away what I wanted to do and I’m so pleased with the turn out. Since school started, we have battled backpacks, lunch boxes, diaper bags, purse, and jacket piles. Pretty much everywhere! I tried doing hooks in the garage and that ended up looking like Monica Geller’s secret closet so that was a no-go.
We had this blank wall in the hallway and I thought it could be a great space to add some hooks for my purse, the kids backpack and the babies diaper bag. Throw in some personalized letters and you’ve got some happy kids (and happy mom!). First, I added a 1×4″ so I could screw the hooks into it. I screwed it into the studs and painted it.
Next, I got these hooks and spray painted them gold. Obviously. Psst.. the hooks I linked to are already a pretty brass – You’re welcome. 😉
Then, I painted the wood plaques with the white acrylic paint and spray painted the letters gold. I used hot glue to attach the letters to the plaques when they were dry.
I used 3M Mounting Tape to attach the finished plaques to the wall. My kids absolutely love finding their letter on the wall and their own hook.
