  • Modern Ranch House: Hallway Gallery Wall

Do you have a hard time not knowing what to do on your gallery wall? Do you do artwork or photos on a gallery wall? They turned out so cute and knew they would be perfect for that space. This is what the hallway looked like when we bought the house. It has come a very long way since this picture. I still can’t this is what it looked like. Now lets talk about how we transformed this space. Photo Shoot It was great because the photo shoot was very simple. I first had all my kids wear…

    DIY Modern Gallery Wall

Here I go again. I once again redid my gallery wall. I have to say I am dying over how much I love it right now! I have done a bit of my own artwork which was new for me and I have also made a few new printables that I am loving right now. To start this DIY Modern gallery wall redo I first painted the wall. The paint color I used was a color that I mixed on my own. I got the color mixed at Home Depot. I think it is a great color. It’s a great tone of grey and just enough of a grey color. I also spray painted quite a few different frames I had already. I also added a gold touch to a few of the frames. With most of the frames I used Kilz Primer and Rust-Oleum semi-gloss Spray Paint to get a clean white look.     I hand painted the watercolor paintings and I love the pop of color it adds. I painted the dot artwork with watercolor paint from Michael’s…

  • Gold Glam Gallery Wall

For a few months, I’ve had my gallery wall done but I wanted more of the room done to show you how it all comes together. I have struggled tons when trying to design what to do on my walls in my living room. I’ve painted and repainted, hung numerous pieces above the sofas, had shelves at one point… I just struggled. I decided I love a good gallery wall. Who doesn’t? I also LOVE gold with a little touch of glam so that’s exactly what I came up with. I wanted to incorporate some fun art, family photos, and a couple personal touches to make it totally unique and custom. I painted this wooden board Canton Jade by Behr and applied this vinyl decal I designed on it. It’s one of my favorite pieces because I love seeing our name up there and the reminder that our family is forever. The chalkboard is super fun because I can change it out whenever. I chalked up this one for Valentine’s day. You can get a free printable version here. The…

  • Prescott View Home Reno: How to install wallpaper

Hello friends! Today I’m sharing a tutorial on how to install wallpaper! I have only done this a couple times but I’ve compiled my tips on how to install wallpaper and found what I believe to be the easiest way. I am not a professional in the wallpaper department but I got professional results with the method I used for how to hang wallpaper! Disclaimer: I had zero desire and zero energy to load up my four kids and go buy fancy wallpapering supplies so I’ll show you what basic DIY supplies I used that worked 100% fine. I chose this Kumo Wallpaper from Anthropologie. I used 2 rolls for my 8×13′ wall making my project $156. TOTALLY worth it!!! I loved that it has the trendy shibori look but a little different. First, begin with a clean, dry and smooth (or semi smooth) wall. I have slightly textured walls and I thought about smoothing them out but since they’re smooth to the touch and its a matte paper, I decided to leave them. If you have a metallic paper or…

  • The wall that changed our entire house

Modern Ranch House: The Wall that Changed our Entire House!

It’s crazy that just by removing a wall it can totally change the look and feel of entire house. We wanted an open floor plan and thats what we have now. When we bought this house we had a vision for the living spaces and the day that we got the keys to the house we started the crazy projects. I know I have shared a few of my completed spaces but I want to back track a bit and talk about the wall that changed our entire house.  One of the BEST things we did in our house was take down the wall that was between the formal living room and the living room. This is what the living room looked like before This is what was on the other side of the formal living room area. If you noticed there is a step down in the formal living room which I will get into that a bit later. Also, if you notice the rounded door ways we also changed that up. I did a little video so you…

  • Modern Ranch House: DIY Wood Accent Wall

For my master bedroom I wanted to do an epic DIY Wood Accent Wall. I went back and forth with a few different designs. A few things I did know was, I did not want the wall to just have straight wood pieces and I knew that I wanted to add in some kind of round element. I was not really sure what I would use for that but I knew I wanted something round. This DIY Wood Accent Wall is easier then it looks. This is how my room started. I got this amazing gold brass bed from Overstock, you can find it HERE. The nightstands are from Ave Home they are the Small Harper Campaign Dresser. Now to create the epic DIY Wood Accent Wall here are the materials that you are going to need, Materials: Half Round Trim 4 inch wood rounds (I found these wood rounds at Hobby Lobby) 5 inch wood rounds (I found these wood rounds at Hobby Lobby) Nail Gun (We are both obsessed with the Roybi Air Stike) Brad Nails   I cut…

  • Prescott View Home Reno: That one time I opened a huge can of worms and removed a wall in our house

Friends! Today, I’m going to share the single most life-changing thing we did to renovate our house. It was literally THE first thing I wanted to change when we bought our house back in June. I walked in for the first time and right away mentioned to my husband and realtor that we needed to remove that wall if we bought it. I desperately wanted an open floor plan and this home was begging to be opened up! Before we did this, I had NO idea how to remove a wall but I couldn’t wait to do it! You know when you watch Chip & Jo on #demoday and you just want to take our all your aggression on some drywall? Yep. That was me! This change would cause a huge ripple effect of changes for our home’s layout. If we remove the wall, we might as well redo the fireplace. We’ll also have to replace the flooring (already part of the plan) but if we are going to change the flooring, we have to rearrange the cabinets in the…
