DIY Fall and Holiday Apple Pie Potpourri
DIY Fall and Holiday Apple Pie Potpourri
Today we have the easiest recipe/DIY ever but the great news is that this little concoction is borderline life changing! This Apple Pie Potpourri is PERFECT for the Fall, Christmas and the whole holiday season. It takes about 2 minutes, uses ingredients you probably already have and lasts for several days. Winning! It smells absolutely incredible and you’re going to love it. I have it on my stove right now and my whole house smells amazing. Yesterday my aunt came over (she’s my aunt but we’re only 4 years apart so it feels more like a cousin relationship and we’re really close) and she walked in and said “Wow!! What are you making!?!” in response to the delicious scent coming from my kitchen.
Ingredients:
- 1 Apple, sliced
- 3 cups of water
- 1 heaping Tablespoon of Nutmeg
- 1 heaping Tablespoon of Ground Cloves (You could use whole cloves too)
- 2-3 Cinnamon Sticks (or a Tablespoon of Cinnamon)
- Optional: Orange or Lemon, sliced
Instructions:
In a medium sauce pan, add all ingredients and bring to a soft boil. I’m not sure if that’s a real thing but imagine when the bubbles are small and the water just starts to boil. Reduce heat to the lowest setting on your stove and let simmer for hours and hours. I peeked on mine a few times to make sure it wasn’t running out of water and it lasted forEVER! It can be turned off at night and started again the next morning and lasts about 3 days. Don’t forget to turn it off if you leave the house or go to bed! Obviously.
Also, you NEED these copper measuring cups in your life. Somehow baking just got so much easier with these pretties! I got mine at Target but here are some similar ones on Amazon.
That. Is. It. SO easy right!? Your family and guests will think you’re just whipping up some amazing Apple Pie when really you took 2 minutes to make your home smell amazing and costs you next to nothing.

Now that it’s the official LAST day of Summer, I can finally start Fall-izing everything, even if it is over 1000 degrees in Arizona still. Yesterday and today have been nice but rumor has it we are back up to 106-ish later in the week. Cripes! Anyway, HAPPY FALL tomorrow!
I bet that smells amazing! I couldn’t help myself I decorated for Fall last week and have been burning fall scented candles!! I really want to make this too 🙂
Oh my gosh what a great idea. I will have to make this a priority this season. I usually buy very few scents (candles, potpourri or sprays) because there’s weird stuff in them. I like this natural option.
Thanks for sharing!
