Meet Chase

I was reading one of my fave blogs All Things Thrifty and found this post. I couldn’t help but post and try to help spread the word about this sweet little boy, Chase, who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.  I have a little boy who is almost two and I cannot even fathom what this family must be going through. Please do what you can to help.

Here is what Chase’s Mom posted on Chase’s fund website

“On July 22, 2010 two yr old Chase Prince was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (a.k.a. ALL). Just like any two year old, Chase is happy and full of energy or, as his parents would say, “bouncing off the walls”. The Sunday before being diagnosed, Dani and Ashton had noticed that Chase was extra tired and was asking for naps. Also, he was having pain on his left side. Something just wasn’t right.. On Wednesday Dani had a doctor’s appt. and decided to take Chase in with her. The doctor could feel that his spleen was enlarged and wanted to run some tests. Dani had the car packed up to head to Bear Lake with family. They headed up North as planned and as they got nearer to Salt Lake Dani got the call from the Doc. He said to head to Primary Children’s Hospital so they could run more tests. It wasn’t long after checking into the ER that they admitted him and started him on an IV. By the next morning, they knew that Chase had ALL. They got a bone marrow sample, did a lumbar puncture, put chemotherapy into his CNS and then put in a port. The beginning of a long road ahead began.

When the news got out we were all shocked and heartbroken that such a healthy energetic little soul could get such a terrible disease. It had all happened so fast. Lot’s of prayers and support have poured in and as a community we are all anxious to help the Prince family out in every way possible. Right now Chase has zero immunity and any little illness can send him straight to the ER for IV antibiotics and blood draws. So hands on help is very limited. Right now Dani and Ashton are taking Chase up weekly to receive treatments. Dani is due with baby #3 mid September. With all this going on we cannot imagine how high the cost of medical bills will start to come in on top of everything else. And with everyone wanting to help in some way, we have decided to start a fund for Chase. If you’ve met Dani and Ashton then you’ve felt their sweet spirit and know how humble they are. Asking for anything has been a challenge for them and when we brought up the idea of a fund, they were hesitant. We want to support and help them through this battle! Chase is a strong boy and he is going to fight this to the end.”
