DIY: How to make your own Ear Warmers
This was a timely post for sure as it just started snowing outside! I was driving when I noticed the little snow flakes dancing and falling on my windshield. I loved it. I drove around with a huge smile on my face eating it up. Giddy like a little child. I got home and stood on my front porch just staring at it and smiling. I’m 99% sure my neighbors think I’m a lunatic. That’s debatable.
I’m pretty sure a million more people are gonna tell me “You won’t love it so much in a few months!” While you’re probably right, I may not love it as much but being an Arizona girl and never experiencing snow, I loved it. I’m pretty sure I’ll learn to hate it as far as I’m told but right now it makes me happy so let’s go with that.
Anyway, here’s a little tutorial to keep your earsies warm this winter! I’m kind of in love with them and need one in every color.
What you’ll need:
1/4 felt or felted wool
needle & thread
sewing machine (optional-ish)
1″ velcro or 1″ elastic
First, cut out your head wrap. I used a crocheted one that I already had as my template but you could easily free hand it.
4 1/2 inches by circumference of your head. If you would rather use velcro to close it behind your head, you can add 1.5-2 inches and have it overlap in the back.
You’ll wanna taper the ends about 1 1/2 inches. (See photo) Cut two. (If you live in a warmer climate, you might not want to double it. I did this so it made to make it warmer)
Place your pieces together and stitch around the entire outside of your head wrap.
Next I took a 1″ strip of waist band elastic I had on hand and stitched one end to the head wrap, then stitched the other side. It’s kind of hard to explain but the photos show exactly what I did. Can you tell I’m a more visual person?!
Ideally, the elastic would match the felt but it doesn’t bug me. Or you could stitch a flower right over it to cover it up.
Next I free-handed some random flowers, imperfect looks better if you ask me! Then, I stacked them up and stitched them on by hand.
Tada!

That is sooo cute! It needs to get cold in AZ so I can actually wear one! It looks perfect to wear for early morning jogs tho!
