3 Trendy Flooring Options That Will Fit Your Budget

If you’re considering replacing your flooring, you’re probably curious as to what flooring options are available in today’s market. Flooring is a large investment, but it will breathe new life into the home, increase the property’s value and keep the home current with the latest styles and trends.
Here are three trendy flooring options that you can actually afford.
1. Wood Laminate
Laminate has been around for years, but it hasn’t been until recently that this floor has really achieved its top rank in the market. Some styles of laminate are so striking, you can barely tell them apart from real wood. Not only is laminate attractive, but also it’s practical, durable and easy to care for. Unlike solid wood, wood laminate is resistant to scratches, dents and moisture.
What makes these floors affordable is that you don’t have to pay for professional installation. With the resourceful snap-and-lock installation method, all you do is fit the pieces together like a puzzle. Just make sure you choose a quality underlayment for moisture and noise control.
2. Carpet Tiles
If you love the soft feel of carpet, you’ll appreciate the concept of carpet tiles. These tiles can be purchased in virtually any color and style, making it easy to create the most unusual patterns and designs. Carpet tiles have self-adhesive backings, so there’s no need to pay for professional installation. Also, if any of the tiles were to become stained or ripped, you can swap it out with a fresh tile. This cool and cost-effective flooring is durable and ideal for basements, kids’ rooms and exercise spaces.
3. Porcelain Tile
Porcelain tile is available in an endless array of colors and styles, including slate lookalikes. It’s easy to find tile on sale, and if you have a knack for DIY projects, you can install tile on your own, saving plenty of money. Once installed, tile is extremely durable and can withstand just about anything, so you won’t have to worry about replacing this flooring. It can be re-grouted over time to restore its luster, and it keeps the home cool so you can save a few bucks on your energy bills.
There are many affordable, trendy flooring options to choose from, and these three are just the tip of the iceberg. To save money without compromising style, look for floors that leave you with DIY freedom. Shop at outlet stores, home improvement stores and online to compare prices and spot the best deals on clearance and closeout flooring.

Wow, I had no idea that carpet tiles could be used for flooring! I might have to look into that, especially since I would love to replace my laminate flooring with carpet. Hopefully the carpet will make the room look a lot less harsh- we’ll just have to wait and see.

I like that you brought up carpet tiles as an option. While many people think of carpet tiles as a flooring option for commercial buildings, it can be used anywhere. They’re cheap, easy to install, and easy to replace, and, like you said, you can easily make unique patterns with them. Thanks for the article.

This is some really great information for anyone who is considering replacing their floor. I had never heard of carpet tiles before, but that sounds like a really great option for anyone who likes carpet, but doesn’t like the monochrome look. And being able to replace small pieces of the tile is a great benefit, so you don’t have to replace the whole floor. Thanks so much for writing!

Lovely ideas to increase value of property!

I always prefer porcelain flooring as it is stain resistant and highly durable because of its stiffness and requires less maintenance. But its true that it is quite expensive but if I compare the advantages then amount would appear little.

I like the style and look of porcelain floors, but I’m not sure it that’s what my husband wants. We’ve been talking about having our floors redone for the past few weeks, but we’re not sure what style we want. I’ve been reading articles about people having concrete floors, and I think it’s a pretty fun idea.

Carpet tiles are most cost-effective and perfect for home with small kids. When the kids fall, carpet tiles are less dangerous when compared to the other two. What about cleaning difficulty of carpet tiles? I think this point also should be taken into account while deciding which floor is ideal for you.
