I’m excited to share My Everyday Makeup Routine with you today! I am not a makeup professional but I have compiled a list of my favorite makeup products that I use in my everyday makeup routine that have worked really well for me.
Well, this is a super vulnerable post but since you guys asked for it, here it is, my everyday makeup routine. I am in no way, shape or form a makeup artist, beautician or even very knowledgable on the subject. That being said, I’m a normal girl/mom that loves playing with makeup and enjoy getting dolled up! I do feel that when I take the time to do my makeup in the morning, it gives me a little confidence boost to go about my day. That might sound silly but it definitely makes me feel better and feel much more put together.
Easy Everyday Makeup Routine
My everyday makeup routine is super, super chill. So easy. Nothing crazy but I do see great results. Before we get started, I will say, I get eyelash extensions which I feel are pretty dramatic (I love dramatic lashes!) so I don’t wear a ton of eye makeup. This is mostly just a product list for those who’ve asked and I’ve tried a ton of products that I’ve seen on tv, in magazines, on blogs, YouTube tutorials, etc. These are MY everyday makeup routine favorites.
Step one: clean and moisturize
I start with a clean face and moisturizer. I usually use Cetaphil Moisturizer or whatever moisturizer I’m trying out at the time. I have been loving Olay products lately too and have pretty much switched over to Olay almost every day. I have loved Rodan & Fields products but not sure I’ll get more because Olay works just as well for my skin. You can read all about my favorite Olay products and my skincare routine here.
Step 2: Foundation, Bronzer and Blush
Then I use about a pea sized (or smaller) amount of Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer followed by MAC Studio Fix Foundation. I wear NC15 when I’m pale and in the winter and NC20 in the Summer or if I have a tan. My favorite sunless tanner is Miami Gorgeous (foam) that I apply with a mitt. Next, I use the CHANEL Soleil Tan De Chanel right beneath my cheekbones from my ear angled toward my mouth. I use this product on the tip of my chin, forehead (near my hairline) and a tiny bit on either side of nose. Next I use MAC Prep + Prime under my eyes. This product is like a brightener. It has the most subtle shimmer so you don’t look too shiny but allows light to reflect it and helps get rid of those bags under my eyes that are inevitably there. Next, I use MAC cremeblend blush in the color “So Sweet, So Easy”. Finally, I use Urban Decay “All Nighter” Makeup Setting Spray (3-4 pumps) to “set” my makeup. It gives you a dewey glow without looking wet or cakey.
Update: I’ve been using Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup (color: sand)
Step 3: Eye Makeup
Next, I use either an eyeshadow (I can’t read the color anymore on the label) or MAC brow pencil in “Lingering” to define my brows. Often times, I dab on some lipgloss or chapstick and end here. I don’t do eyeshadow, liner and mascara every day. If I’m going out to run errands, hanging out with friends or going to church or something, I’ll do my full eye makeup.
Eyeshadow:
I am LOVING this FLEKK eyeshadow palette right now. I use the all-over color 1 on my full eyelid from my lashes to my eye brows then I use number 2 on my outer corner of my eyelids. If I want more dramatic or darker look, I use 4 in the very corner of my eye. I don’t usually wear a ton of eyeshadow or liners. Confession: I am blind in my right eye so eye makeup is kind of hard for me to do when I have to close my good eye. What is my life? For upper liner, I love the look of eyeliner on my upper lid but I’m not great at applying it so I normally skip it. I use any eyeliner that I have handy (wearing Revlon ColorStay right now) and a tiny bit of mascara on my lower lashes. For my eyelashes, I have eyelash extensions so I don’t wear mascara on my upper lashes.
Lips:
For my lips, I usually just wear a neutral pink lipgloss or lipstick but I LOVE a bright hot pink lip for going out or a bold red for date night or church. Channeling my inner T-Swift, ya know? So I’m totally the opposite of an expert in this area but I have finally nailed down my everyday makeup routine and feel like I’ve mastered the little that I know how to do. Makeup is so much fun and having an everyday makeup routine definitely helps me feel more put together and for that I am thankful! LOL!
