DIY Kids Homework Station

We partnered with Ikea to create my kids homework station. My kids always have work on the computer and take some classes online (for fun!) so a homework station is a must.Homework Station for kids - my kids need this!

We needed a homework station and a place for my kids to play on the computers so they stop using mine. haha! We had this awkward nook in our basement right off of our family room and we wanted to do something useful and we knew our kids desperately needed a place to both study and play.

How to create a homework station

First, I painted the walls white. Then, I taped off 2/3 of the way down the wall and painted the bottom part with a rich navy blue, the same navy I’ve used throughout my house. My husband and I started by building this kid’s desk (tutorial coming soon!) and finished it off with some furnishings from Ikea.

Buy or make a cool desk and chairs

I chose these amazing KULLABERG Swivel Chairs and we LOVE that they go up and down with a lever underneath. My kids age range in 8 months – almost 10 so my kids are all different heights and we often need to adjust the chairs. These were perfect. They were easy to assemble and love the look of them. The vintage feel is just so darling.

Accessorize your space

We also got these cute VENDLA cushion covers to soften up the chairs and add a cute modern touch to the homework station. I used the FJADRAR pillow insert from Ikea as well and they are so fluffy and comfortable! Not to mention, they are the least expensive, quality pillow inserts I’ve found.

I felt like the space needed some art work so I printed off three of my favorite black and white Brittney Gurr Prints and framed them in the RIBBA framesThis was a super easy way to get cute, inexpensive art for this space. I also installed some sconces and they were the perfect finishing touch for this space.

I absolutely love how this space turned out and my kids love it even more! They spend some free time here each day and it makes me so happy seeing them enjoying our hard work.
