10 DIY ideas for the "Nesting" mommy to be!

Well, I’m sure you could guess that Savannah and I are both in our “nesting” baby mode. Savannah is only days away from meeting her little boy and I only have a few short weeks left. We’ve both been busy getting our homes, cars, and nurseries ready for the arrival of our 3rd little one! I still can’t believe we will have 6 kids between the two of us! Holy cow!
I have a couple things on my “to-do” list still but thankfully, I’ve marked several things off of my list. Since it seems like everyone I know is pregnant or know someone who is, I thought it’d be fun to share some baby related crafts this week! Some of these I’ve done and others are still on my to-do list waiting to be done!
Make lots of cute baby blankets with cotton and super soft minky! You can get the full tutorial at Greener Grass.
Get busy sewing some swaddle blankets! These are so nice to have when baby is tiny and you need to wrap him/her up like a burrito to sleep! You can learn how here.
Vanilla Joy teaches you how to make your own crib bumpers! These are really simple actually. I put this project off for weeks and finally got around to it and they were so easy and turned out so cute! So glad this is off my list!
Make a baby mobile! I love this one from Boxy Colonial!
My Sweet Nest Blog gives TONS of nursery organization tips! I just did this last week and it feels so good to have it all ready in one place! Check this one out for sure.
Read up! This has some awesome tips…. Especially for the first time mom! Check it out at B-inspired Mama.
Make some freezer meals!!! If you normally do the cooking at home, this will be extremely helpful for your family while you’re in the hospital and for those first few weeks when you and baby get home… because fast food gets old really fast! *wink*
Take Maternity photos! Project Nursery has some awesome tips and ideas for a maternity shoot. Even if it’s your hubby photographer in your backyard, you’ll be happy you took them someday!
Make a car seat canopy – Sawdust and Paper Scraps has a great tutorial.
I’m sure this list could go on and on and on but last and certainly not least…
REST!!!! If your due date is coming quickly, get plenty of sleep and drink lots and lots of water to prepare your body for baby’s (and your) big day!
Most of all, have fun and enjoy the journey! It’s rough but it’s sure worth it!
Hugs,

    1. My daughter is due in August with her third. She will then have an infant and 2 toddlers!! 3, 17 months and newborn. She has all the baby clothes she will need (has a boy and a girl already) so those kind of gifts she does not need. She uses cloth diapers and has all she will need. So, I was thinking a great gift for her would be a few days taking the 2 older children to the park, zoo, treats, etc., so she will have time to rest when the infant sleeps. During the few days, I will also be able to get the laundry done for her and keep it up for those few days. She has friends and other family who like to bring meals so she does not have to cook dinners but breakfast and lunch are an issue. I plan to have some meal ideas for those meals as well.

    1. Agreed! I was going to post the same thing. A crib should be as bare as possible – no blankets, bumpers or stuffed animals!
