Our Traeger Grill Story: Is it ACTUALLY worth it?!

The holidays are coming up so fast – is a Traeger Grill on your family’s list?!

Can I admit something? I’m not sure I’m entirely ready for that! I love the holidays so much, but if you’ve been hanging out with me on Instagram stories, you know that my guest room flooded this week! As you can imagine, that is taking up so much of my time right now.

I’ve been hearing from friends and family that Christmas gifts are going to take significantly longer to ship this year. As if I needed something else extremely urgent added to my list! I’m trying to get ahead as much as possible and with that in mind, I wanted to share about one of the best gifts of family has ever purchased — our Traeger Grill!

I’m sure you’ve heard of the Traeger by now, but to save you the time.

You need one! We renovated our backyard a few years ago (see the reveal post here!) and we have enjoyed so many Traeger Grill meals around this table.

Say goodbye to propane, Traeger grill pellets are the BEST!

We cook meals on our Traeger 1-2x per week. It is better than a traditional grill in so many ways. Instead of using propane, the Traeger uses wood pellets for energy which makes for an incredible taste. I’m 100% serious – the meat you grill or smoke on Traeger is unlike anything you’ve experienced on a traditional grill. Refilling the pellets is so much easier than replacing a propane tank. And the best part is the a bag of wood pellets lasts as long as propane tank does!

There are several different models. We have one from the Pro line and are very happy with it. They have three different series – Pro, Timberland, and Ironwood. The Ironwood is the highest tier, luxury Traeger that has tons of features. Maybe someday we will upgrade to that one, but for now, we are loving the Pro! Within each series, they also have different sizes depending on how much meat you want to grill at one time. Ours is a bit larger to accommodate our large family.

It’s a smoker and a grill?

Yes, the Traeger is a grill and smoker in one! You can actually grill, smoke, or even bake on thee Traeger! I personally use it more for grilling and smoking, but baking is totally option as well.

The wood pellets make for a really tasty smoky flavor, but if we want more a traditional grill taste without smoke, the Traeger is great for that too. The options are really endless with this thing! It is very versatile.

You can control the temp from your phone!

One of my favorite features is the ability to connect your Traeger to your wifi network so I can manage the temp on the grill right from my phone! When I’m inside prepping dinner, I can control the grill and manage the temperature from my phone. In the summer when Arizona is miserably hot, I use this feature constantly. I imagine this would be helpful for grilling in the winter in most parts of the country! Make sure you check to see that the grill your buying has the WiFire (yes, that is what it’s called!) feature before you purchase.

So, is the Traeger Grill worth it?

We think so! If your family wants to get into smoking meat, I think this is a no-brainer for a family Christmas gift. Smoking any type of meat you want becomes so easy with the wifi capability. My husband has smoked meat all day while he was at work and was able to manage the temp from his phone.

Every Thanksgiving we look forward to a smoked turkey. Do I need to say anything else?!

I just can’t say enough good things about the Traeger and all it has done for our family meals! If you’re looking for an over the top Christmas gift – you really can’t go wrong!

    Traeger grill has become a discovery for our family in the new year.
