The Girls’ Closet Makeover! | The Container Store Closet Elfa System

My two girls have shared a room since…forever! They are turning into teenagers before my eyes and I’m enjoying every moment with them! We recently did a complete redesign to their room which is was one of my FAVORITE #savannahsmodernranch projects to date! You can check that out here.

What we didn’t show you is that their closets needed some major work! Before our new setup, they each had one small dresser in here which just wasn’t enough. Shoes and clothes were all over the floor and there was no system in place to keep in organized. With school in full swing, we knew we had to make a change. Our first (and only!) stop was to see The Container Store closet systems!

What The Container Store Closet system is this?

I took the girls to see The Container Store closets so they could see first hand what the closet options were. Very quickly, we landed on the Elfa system because we could customize the drawers and shelves for their space. The next step was to design these components to fit the dimensions of the closet. This was all done digitally by the team in just a few minutes! I learned that you can also do all of this yourself at home which I would definitely consider next time!

Installing Our Elfa System

Installation is so much easier than you’d think! Kyle and I tackled this in an afternoon – and the girls and spent the rest of the day going through their clothes and finding a spot for each piece. The Container Store has so many resources and instructions for installation. Or if you’d prefer, they also offer a professional installation service.

The finishing touches really took this space over the top. The pink and striped bins are from The Container Store as well! We put their out of season items and accessories in there.

As you can see, my girls don’t have a ton of jewelry just yet, but it’s nice for them to have this storage in their The Container Store closets so they can learn to take care of what they do have!

One tip I learned from my mom is to allow space in between your hangers for a clean look. When they are all squished and overlapping, it can make the closet appear a bit messy.

It has been so nice not having to remind my girls to pick their things in their closet anymore! Now that everything has a place, keeping it tidy is just that much easier.
