Teen Room Idea | The Presidential Suite

This post is sponsored by Behr Paint Company. As always, all opinions are our own.

Certain moments hit you as a parent when you realize that your kids are growing up. They say “the days are long, but the years are short” and man, I’ve been feeling that more than ever lately.

My oldest son, Carter, has been brainstorming for months about what he wanted when we tackled his room refresh. For the first time, he wasn’t initially pulled to any characters, cartoons, or movies. I think he realized that he wanted something more mature instead of a theme that wouldn’t fit his interests a year from now. We needed to think of a teen room idea. Cue the tears! (It’s fine, I’m fine!)

Carter has developed a passion and interest for learning about American history. When I told him about this idea of an Old Glory / Presidential Suite theme, he was ALL about it!

Where the inspiration came from

It was this framed artwork of George Washington that I found while thrifting one day with Savannah that sparked my inspiration for this room!

We had been stuck inside for way too long and were more than ready to take on a project together. The only problem is that we didn’t want to go in-store to pick out our colors.

Did you know you can order paint online?

Do you remember when I used BEHR Express? A few months back, we tried out BEHR Express for the first time in my laundry room (you can check out that reveal here!) and had the best experience – it is the ultimate hack to getting a paint project done without having to step foot into a store and having a stunning result!

How to get started

We started by looking at all of their color options online. They have a curated palette of 55 colors to choose from and a super quick but thorough quiz to help you narrow down your color choices based on the room and overall vibe you’re going for.

We knew we wanted a red, white, and blue! Here is what we ended up with! Fits perfectly, right?!

What to do after you know what paint color you want

Once you choose your color options, you can order peel & stick paint samples! No painting required! I just stuck them up on my wall to make sure the color was exactly what I envisioned! All colors were perfect and matched exactly what I saw online.

BEHR Express made it so easy to tackle this project without going to the store because I was able to add painting supplies to paint order! Everything shipped together. Such a breeze!

How I made my final paint decision

Once I saw the red color on the wall which is called Dark Crimson M140-7, I realized that it may be just a tad too harsh for the lighting in this space. In this moment, I was SO glad I had these peel & stick samples! No repainting required.

I loved the dark navy color which is called Very Navy M500-7 but I was totally in love with the dusty blue color that I ultimately picked which was NYPD N480-6.

I wanted to maximize the light in this room and let NYPD N480-6 be the star of the show which is why I went with a white on the other three walls. Our favorite white is Frost-57! It is the perfect, crisp shade of white that Savannah and I use exclusively in both of our homes!

Ready for the final reveal?

I feel like we hit the nail on the head! It has the exact vibe we were going for and its perfect for a tween boys room. What do you think?

New pillows in our shop

How awesome are these pillows? They are brand new to the Classy Clutter Shop!

We hope you love this room as much as Carter does!
