When I did my bedroom makeover, I had the hardest time finding the perfect chair, bench, or stool for my new vanity (tutorial coming very soon!). I decided against a chair with arms or a back because I wanted it to be stored completely under the vanity without obstructing the walkway. Yeah, obstructing. 😉 I finally found a great little vanity stool that was the perfect height at Bed, Bath and Beyond. It’s the Madison Vanity Bench and you can find it here. I wanted to customize it a bit so I grabbed some cute fabric (Buffalo Check from Ikea) and some of my favorite spray paint (Rustoleum Gold Metallic). This made the piece of furniture my own and make it the perfect fit for my bedroom!=
Supplies:
- Madison Vanity Bench
- Gold Spray Paint
- Buffalo Check Fabric
- Staple Gun
- Staples
- Drill or Screwdriver
First remove the screws underneath the bench and place in a ziplock bag. Spray paint the frame and allow to dry.
While the base is drying, cut a rectangle with about 5-6″ larger than the cushion.
Place in the center of your fabric and pull the fabric tight. Staple one side down and continue around the sides. Don’t worry about the corners just yet.
When the sides are stapled tightly you will pull the corner straight up and staple it flat.
Repeat on all sides.
Once your frame is dry, reattach the cushion. Voila! You’re done. Super easy, right?!
I love it in my room and it’s the perfect vanity stool to sit and do my makeup. If you have any cushions to recover, this tutorial will work great for dining chairs, ottomans or basically anything with a cushion screwed to a frame. It is simple and easy and will update any piece of furniture you would like!
