Hi friends! Can you believe the holidays are finally here?! Every year I wait and wait for Fall to arrive then November and December fly by in what seems like a couple short weeks! Like 2… not 8+ like it really is! I definitely consider Nov 1st-Dec 31st “the holidays”. Since it’s November 3rd, it’s 100% okay to start thinking about all things holiday! Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and even New Years! Eeek! Just talking about it makes me so excited!
During this time of year, I am a total wannabe but avid baker! I love to try new holiday themed recipes that highlight the quintessential flavors of the holiday season. My favorites are pumpkin, egg nog, peppermint and cinnamon flavors. Yum!
This year things are a bit different for baking and cooking in my home. For the last year and a half, my husband has decided not to eat dairy and limit his amount of processed meat. Semi-vegan, if you will. He tried to reintroduce it for a few months and dairy just really bothers his stomach and digestive system.
Today, we’ve teamed up with Silk to create a holiday recipe with their dairy-free, lactose-free and egg-free Holiday Nogs! I chose to create a rich and creamy Nog Hot Chocolate using Silk Nog Original, which by the way is only 80 calories per serving. Heck yes! You guys, I’m going to be 100% honest with you, I’ve never been a huge fan of Egg Nog. I like it but not like some obsessed people, like my mother. It was always a little too eggy for my liking but this Silk Nog is a game.changer!!! You get the incredible taste of traditional Nogs without the over-egginess. I love it and so does my entire family! It’s delicious on it’s own then you pair it with chocolate and fuggedaboutit! Am-a-zing! Here’s the recipe. PS. You can whip this up in about 5 minutes or pour it all in a slow cooker for a holiday party!
Ingredients:
2 cups Silk Nog Original
4 Tablespoons Hot Chocolate Powder Mix
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions:
- Pour 2 cups of Silk Nog into a medium saucepan and heat until it starts to steam.
- Add in 4 Tablespoons of Hot Chocolate Powder Mix and 1/8 tsp of nutmeg and 1/8 tsp of cinnamon and use a whisk to dissolve.
- Pour into a mug and top with whipped cream, marshmallows, chocolate or whatever you’d like!
This Nog Hot Chocolate is sure to warm you up on winter days. I’m so excited to make this delicious drink for my entire family to enjoy this holiday season!
