Summer in Arizona can only mean one thing, pool time! With temperatures reaching 100-120 degrees daily, we have spent hours and hours by the pool. We realized that pool activities require a bunch of accessories, toys, etc. We have pool floats, diving rings, goggles, towels, sunscreen and tons more. By the looks of our little shelving area, it was time for some color and a Pool Organizer.
The shelving unit was working great but the bins were very sad looking and my kids just threw everything everywhere when it was time to clean up. When we don’t have a system in place, they just aren’t sure where things go and it tends to get disorganized very quickly. We decided to replace the bins with some sturdy plastic bins in two different sizes to accommodate the different pool supplies that we had.
We spray painted the bins with Krylon Outdoor Décor spray paint in Satin Bluegrass. I love the cool blue/green color that reminds me of the crisp, cool pool water! It took 2-3 coats of Krylon Outdoor Décor spray paint to paint the plastic bins.
We added some vinyl labels (you can use scrapbook letter stickers too!) and filled the bins with all of our pool accessories.
My kids were in heaven already but looking at the whole space. We decided it needed a little more color so we spray painted the metal shelving unit with two coats of Krylon Outdoor Décor Satin Dahlia.
We couldn’t resist adding a pop of pink! We also spray painted the little vase on top the of the organizer too!
The labels and bins have helped my kids keep this area tidy during even the craziest pool parties with their friends! I love that I can put our pool towels somewhere other than the floor or hanging all around the fence so we know which are clean and which are used.
The entire project took about an hour and a half and it was so worth it! I love my Pool Organizer. This little time spent added style and organization makes me so happy! It can be so difficult to control the clutter in the summer time with all of my kids home but this little space is so functional now and I love the added color next to our pool now!

April 7, 2019 at 11:43 amLove this idea, 5 grandkids throwing goggles all over, toys left in the pool, etc. I think I will use a plastic shelf for rust prevention. Thanks, love the colors!
