Prescott View Home Reno: DIY Brush Stroke Wall & Dining Room Makeover

Hey friends! Today I’m excited to share another room in my new house! Over the weekend, I worked on this little dining room and added some finishing touches to the room! I absolutely LOVE how it turned out. The wall with the window and door (that leads to our backyard) was white and a bit boring but I knew I could jazz it up and make a faux wallpaper with DecoArt’s new METALLICS paint from the Americana Decor Line! I am SO in love with this metallic paint! The entire project cost less than $10 and took less than an hour to complete! Amazing right?

Materials:

I found this pattern inspiration on Pinterest by searching Brush Stroke Pattern and loved the cross hashes and how perfectly imperfect it is. Isn’t it fun! I actually love it in navy but we all know, gold is my jam so I went with Champagne Gold from DecoArt.

I used a scrap piece of wood to try out a few different brush strokes. I used the wide stroke which ended up being the easiest one and my favorite look. All I did was repeat that stroke in horizontal and vertical strokes to fill in the whole wall.

The Metallics paint is now available in Michaels Stores! It’s not in the craft paint aisle but you can find it in the Stains and Finishes aisle with even more of DecoArt’s Americana Decor line.

The entire process took less than an hour! The jar of paint is less than $10 and I only used half of the jar. So basically, I used less than an hour of time and $5 worth of paint to create a total show stopper wall! YES! I am totally smitten with it!

I painted the door navy and I love how it pops! I was going to do it white but my kids use this door constantly to go play in the backyard and my husband, the genius that he is, mentioned that white would looks dirty quickly because the kiddos overuse of this door! haha! I love that he thought of that. He’s a keeper.

  3. You are brilliant! I got here via pinterest and a headboard tutorial that had the loveliest wall treatment behind it. My daughter is far more mod than I am and it seemed perfect for her space… then I see your brushstroke treatment! Wow. It’s really going to set off my entryway. Thank you. <3

  4. Electronic use is also a kind of paperless, even if you are working on a computer that means it is paperless work however you can not remove paper completely. When I write articles suppose I am writing about gaming laptops for my website, I brainstorm and write few points on a piece of a paper and then write something accordingly, that helps me whether I am capable to write or not?
