Coastal Bedroom Makeover

This post is sponsored by Walmart. As always, all opinions are our own.

BEDDING: Beddy’s Nautical Navy

Since moving into our new house, our youngest son’s room has been lacking the attention it deserved. I have been anxious to give his room a full makeover. I wanted to create a space that reflects his personality but will also grow with him as he gets older. These toddler years don’t last nearly long enough!

Coastal / Beach Decor Bedroom Ideas

Coastal decor is beach decor. A common misconception is that Coastal Style means nautical. Anchors and rope, nope. While those things certainly work, Coastal Style is so much more. It typically features earth tones, a variety of blue tones, usually jute and rope textures and that’s exactly what I wanted.

We hoped to create a summer by the lake vibe and included a few animals to keep it feeling appropriate for a toddler but also a space that he can grow into. I love that we were able to create a cool, crisp, beachy feel while keeping it age appropriate.

I am loving all of the coastal decor options from Walmart Home! On Walmart.com you can “Shop by Style” and I chose “Coastal” and found an amazing selection! I love all the textured, natural elements and it definitely gives you a coastal feel. Each item helps bring a casual and serene feel to your space.

We installed vertical paneling (tongue and groove shiplap) and painted it a crisp white to act as a backdrop to the coastal feeling bedroom. The crisp white walls keep the whole room feeling bright and cool.

For the furniture, I chose a combination of driftwood looking stain on the bed and the dresser paired with painted furniture in light and airy colors.

For the linens and pillows, I chose blues and soft, cool colors and striped fabrics as a nod to the lakeside vibe we were after. I added layers of texture with the jute rug, hanging lights and woven baskets.

I also chose glass lamps with white drum shades that pair nicely with all the textured elements in the space

I styled the space with objects that reflected a beachy look and a few animals to keep it feeling like a young and playful space.

I absolutely love how it turned out and even my little Oliver loves his new room!
