Black and White Bathroom Makeover

When I first moved into my new house, I knew there were a few things I had to fix ASAP. First up were the bathrooms. The bones were good but the finishes were all brown. Brown tile, brown painted walls, honey oak cabinets and brown wood blinds. They were all great quality but if you know me at all, brown is a no-go situation for my house. Here is the photo from the listing where we found the house.

See, there were a lot of pluses to the bathroom; good natural light with the window, large mirror, large shower, double vanity, lots of storage but man, oh man…brown brown brown. Brown is just not inspiring and definitely not my personality. I’m super excited to have partnered with Target Home to give this bathroom a much-needed facelift so it has the same vibe as the rest of my house.

The first thing I did was paint the walls (Behr Swiss Coffee – my favorite creamy white) and I used BB Frosch chalk paint powder and Behr Marquee in Ultra Pure White on the cabinets. Then, I used these dalmatian spot vinyl decals that I cut with my Silhouette Cameo. Don’t worry, you can snag your own decals on my Etsy shop here.

Next up was decorating, my favorite part. I grabbed some accessories from Target and a few bathroom must haves (cotton balls, q-tips and cotton discs) in placed them in these mason jars I found at Target. Everything looks better on a tray so I placed them on this cute hammered metal tray.

Can we just talk about these soap dispensers? Nate has done it again and I’m obsessed. Who knew I could be obsessed with a soap dispenser?? I love these ones I found in the Nate Berkus Collection. I got this frame a few years ago from Target as well and put this super cute print from Yellow Bungalow Shop in it.

I love to sit and do my makeup in here now. I found this cute vanity mirror and it is so convenient and cute! I use the pink ottoman as a stool to sit and get ready. The stool is from Target and is no longer available online but I have seen it at some stores still.

I got the gold mirror from a flea market in Buffalo, New York.

I got the shag rug and shower curtain from Target as well and I love how they all tie in together.

  1. Love this bathroom!!! So cute and modern! I am getting ready to redo two of the bathrooms in my house and I as wondering what color & type of paint did you use on the cabinets? You talk about the wall paint but not the cabinet paint. Do you have any step by step instructions on how to paint the cabinets? Thank you for the great inspiration!

  2. Your cabinets are beautiful. just wondering if you waxed or did something else to get the shiny look?

  3. I like that you kept the tile and just put rugs on it. Where it shows it seems to enhance the white of everything else. Did you have any sort of plans to change the tile at all?
