DIY Projects: DIY Plant Stand

DIY Plant Stand - www.classyclutter.net

Hey friends! How’s it going?! It finally feels like Fall here in Arizona so I woke up in a great mood! Maybe because I went to bed at 9pm last night and I woke up to a clean house, courtesy of my rock star husband. That could’ve contributed a bit. (Thanks babe!)  Anyway, I’m pretty excited to share another tid bit of my little boys’ room! My 1 and 2 year old boys share a bedroom and I’ve been working on it here and there and I think it’s just about done! There are like 2-3 mini projects left in the room but I can’t wait to show you!

Today I’m going to show you how to make a super cute, super easy plant stand! I made this for the boys room because I LOVE plants in the house. I mostly kill plants but I love this Sansevieria because it does well in the low light and coolness of the kids’ room. This one is known as “Mother in law’s tongue” and I thought it was kind of hilarious. PS my Mother in Law is fantastic but I know some that are… well, not fantastic. LOL!

It’s near a window so it gets some great light during the day but often times I keep the shades drawn and curtains closed when baby P is sleeping or when I want to keep the house cool. It has a couple of leaves that we are working on healing but it’s done really well.

Basically, I love it and didn’t want the little boys messing with it or playing in the soil so I decided to build this ridiculously easy plant stand. I love how it turned out! Here goes…

Materials:

Pretty Pegs – I chose these Estelle legs

Furniture Leg Mounting Plates

Wood Table Top

Paint and Paintbrush

Triangle Vinyl Decals (available in my Etsy shop for only $4!)

Instructions:

  1. Install Pretty Pegs to the wooden table top using the furniture leg mounting plates and screws. There should be detailed instructions in your mounting plates packaging.

  1. Paint your table top however you’d like. I did a thin coat of white paint to let some of the wood grain show through to match the Pretty Pegs furniture legs.

2-Paint Top

3. Allow to dry and apply vinyl decals to dress it up a bit! I loved the gold triangles because it tied into the gold on the legs.

3-Apply Triangles

I can’t wait to show you the FULL room reveal! You’ve seen a lot of it on the DIY Faux Brick Wall project and the Tribal Inspired Dresser Makeover (here and here) but the rest is really coming along!

So let’s hear it… Do you have a green thumb or are you sticking to strictly desert plants so you can neglect them and they still love you? Guess which one I am? 😉

PS. Huge thanks to Pretty Pegs for sending me these super cute table legs for this project! Check out their darling furniture legs here.

  1. Oh, this plant stand is adorable! I would love to have something like this in my living room. I have so many plants in my house, it’s hard to find a place to put them all sometimes, you know? Do you think this would work with an old bedside table, rather than buying pegs and a table top separately?
