  • Fall Wreath 1

    $5 Burlap Fall Wreath {oldie but a goodie!}

    Today I’m going to re-share a tutorial I posted a few years ago for my Burlap Halloween wreath. I used my own tutorial and created a Fall version. I thought I’d include the tutorial for those that may have missed it! Burlap is SUPER cheap! I got 1 yard of burlap at Joann’s for around $2 using a coupon. I also got the Fall ribbon from Joann’s. The “N” and other fall embellishments I had on hand. Here’s how I did it: 1. I unwound the hook of a wire hanger so it was one long wire. 2. I formed it into a circle shape. 3. Cut my burlap into 3″ strips. I used exactly 1 yard of burlap. You could use up to two yards for a more tightly folded look. 4. I folded the strips back and forth as I threaded it through the wire. Super easy. photo via Halloween post 5. Once I had a full-looking wreath, I spaced out the fabric and secured it in random places, using hot glue, to the wire hanger so it…

  • Give Thanks Banner (Revisited)

    Thanksgiving is next week! What the what!?! Crazy right?? Then, we can all decorate for CHRISTMAS!!! I made this fun little “Give Thanks” banner. I didn’t take too many photos because it is pretty self explanatory and you will want to create it completely to your own taste! I simply printed off the letters on some cream card stock and cut pennants out of various coordinating scrapbook pages. I punched two holes in the top of the pennants to string the jute through. I hot glued the  pinwheels on and added some rhinestones for some bling! Everything looks better with rhinestones. TIP:  Super cute, easy and cheap! All characteristics of my favorite kind of projects! Are you ready for Thanksgiving next week??? Have a happy week my friends,…

  • Thanksgiving "Give Thanks" sign

    Well Fall is in full swing! It’s nice and cool/cold in most areas and the leaves have changed and fallen! I already completed my Fall Mantel but I wanted to make just one more thing to remind us to “Give Thanks” since that is really what Thanksgiving is all about. This is a super easy and quick craft and I think it adds the perfect touch to any mantel, shelf or it would even be perfect on your Thanksgiving dinner table!  Here’s how it’s done: 1.  I had a piece of 1″x6″x5′ board I purchased from Home Depot a while ago. I measured 26″ long and marked the wood. 2. Next, I took my jigsaw and cut the board on my marking. If you don’t have a jigsaw, Lowe’s and Home Depot will cut wood for you if purchase it in their store. I got my jigsaw at Walmart for around $20 and I love that I have it on hand for quick cuts like this. 3. Then, I painted the board with Folkart Gold Metallic paint with a sponge…

    My Fall Mantel 2012 and Ruffled Burlap Garland Tutorial

    Hi! I finally finished my fall mantel! Well, my shelf. ha! I don’t have a real mantel so I use my Ballard inspired shelf I made as my mantel in my living room. I wanted to do a traditional looking mantel that would last all of October and November. One of my favorite things about Fall is the gorgeous color that is everywhere! I love the oranges, golds, reds and browns! I saw this sign on Ella Claire blog and knew I really wanted a similar one. I used my Silhouette to make a vinyl stencil, stuck it on the painted board and painted the letters with acrylic craft paints. When it was almost dry, I peeled off the vinyl and voila! Easy! I also sanded it when everything was dry to get a more rustic look. The fall foliage topiary was a 90% off find at Hobby Lobby last winter. I think I paid $4 for it! SCORE! The pumpkin too. It was less than a $1 with the 90% off discount! Seriously, stock up after Thanksgiving on your…

    Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread for Beginners

    So… I’ve never made bread before (gasp!) I know. I have been wanting to try for a while now but I just haven’t. Partly because I didn’t even have any bread pans. I got some last week and couldn’t wait to try them out. I came across a recipe that was yummy looking but I didn’t have some ingredients so I kind of made up my own recipe and holy smokes, it is delicious! It’s totally fool proof and easy so anyone can make it! Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread for Beginners: 1 15 oz can of Pumpkin Puree 4 eggs 1 cup Vegetable Oil 2/3 cup water 2 1/2 cups of white sugar 3 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour 2 tsp baking soda 1 1/2 tsp of salt 1 tsp ground cinnamon 1-2 cups of chocolate chips (depending on how many you like in your bread) Preheat oven to 350 degrees. With electric mixer, mix pumpkin puree, eggs, vegetable oil, water and white sugar.  In another mixing bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon.  Gradually add the dry mixture…
