  • Savannah’s Modern Ranch House: Girls Whimsical Bedroom

The day has come!! I have been DYING to share my girls bedroom with all of you and today is the day for the final reveal!! For my girls room I wanted it to be very whimsical and playful and I think that’s exactly what I achieved. Before I show you the final reveal let me show you the before picture. It was a very very plain room with brown carpet. When we first moved in we had a million projects going on so the kids room sat with just the beds for about two weeks. I knew I wanted the kids rooms to be done as part of their Christmas gift. The first thing I got for the girls room was this amazing mural by Bari J. she is such amazing artist and she happens to be local in Arizona. I have seen her work in many different places including the cutest phone cases ever at Anthropologie. You all know how much I love a accent wall and I wanted something epic in my girls room and I believe…

  • Mallory’s Prescott View Home: Bonus Room Makeover

I’m so excited about today’s post! We’re gonna chat about our Bonus Room. I think people call it a “flex” room? Yeah, flex room. This room was used by the previous owners for a family/tv room! They had comfy sofas and a little desk and office space in here. I wracked my brain for how to use this space best for our family! Since I decided to frame in a pantry (more on that later) I used the space where the previous owners had their dining table… which meant, this needed to be a dining room or… part dining room. It’s awfully long to use only for a dining room and perhaps as our family grows, we will use it primarily for dining someday. For now, it’s our flex room that is our kiddos tv room + dining room. Weird right? Well, it TOTALLY works wonders for us! It was one of the reasons I fell in love with the house (the windows!!!) and the fact that it had so many possibilities! First, I removed the carpet and installed new flooring. I…

  • Mallory’s Prescott View Home: My garage to dream office conversion!

Hello friends! I am soooo excited to finally be sharing my office makeover process with you! When we moved into our new house, I knew that I wanted to convert our 3rd car garage into a fully functioning office. I wanted to be sure to make it NOT look like a garage anymore. I had a great idea of bolting the garage door closed (we never used it for vehicle storage anyway and there are two other entrances). We removed the tracks on the ceiling and built a partition wall to hide the old garage door. This also helped to keep the room climate controlled since we added insulation and drywall. My super talented husband also added electrical in the wall for what I have planned for this wall. The next step was flooring! We were approached by Quick•Step to complete a room makeover as part of their RoomUP Blogger Challenge and it was literally the perfect timing because I was definitely in the market for great flooring! I can’t wait to show you more so click over to Quick•Step Style…

  • Updating My Curb Appeal by Painting My Front Door

So with the New Year here I am getting things done around the new house. The house is coming along and I have notice that the smallest details and updates are making the biggest difference. With that being said my front door was in pretty bad shape. I hated the green trim around the door and black door was in major need of a fresh coat of paint. Who ever painted the door in the first place did not do that great of a job. There was a lot of wood showing through the black paint. The paint was also chipping off on parts of the door. The whole door needed a facelift. I decided to use the DecorArt Outdoor Living paint in Iron Gate to update the look and giving my front door a fresh look for the New Year. The paint is super smooth and has a great finish. The Green trim was the first thing to be painted. I taped around the whole door and the windows to make painting a bit easier.   The before and…

  • Mallory’s Prescott View Home: DIY Wood Shutters and Front Porch Makeover

You guys, it’s Mallory! Hi! The holidays are officially over (well, except New Years!) and it’s finally time to start blogging about home/DIY projects again! YAY! I just organized my photos and I have thousands of pictures to sort through, edit and post for you! For an update on what we’ve done to our Prescott View home, check out the posts we’ve shared so far here. A few months ago, I got a wild hair and decided to paint the exterior of my home. I’m 99% sure everyone thought I had officially lost my mind taking on a huge project! The house was recently painted so it didn’t need any crazy repairs or anything. I went to Home Depot and bought some exterior paint and went to work! The house was a light tan color when we bought it. PS whenever I hear light tan, I think of Nacho Libre. haha!! Anyone else? I’m going a teeny bit out of order here since I haven’t painted the back of my house since it got too cold now but I will take…

  • How to make finding flooring easier… Floor and Decor

Finding flooring can be really difficult. When we bought our new house in October we planned on moving in then down the road redoing the flooring. As we started working on the house we knew that we wanted to do the flooring before we moved in. Since the new flooring would be in the main rooms of our house we knew that doing the flooring while we lived there would be harder with us living there. Now the challenge was finding the flooring that we wanted and finding it fast. What I did first was I put together a must have list. Which included: Light colored Something that would look good next to my pre-existing hardwood floor because the hardwood was in good shape and it was in the entryway and the kitchen. We were looking for something very durable because the new flooring is in the formal living room, dining room, living room, nursery, and hallway. Because it was going next to real hardwood I did not want a “wood looking” tile even though I loved a lot of…

  • Holiday Front Door Makeover and easy updates for your home!

Hello dear friends! We are so excited that the holidays are finally here! Have I mentioned that? 😉 We are traveling and also hosting family this year and I’m so excited to share our front door makeover with you. We’ve partnered with Schlage to create a beautiful and secure front entry for our home. Our front door was fine but nothing special. It was just simple white with a simple handle. I wanted to create a new, beautiful inviting entry with personality. I recently painted my home’s exterior so I really wanted a fun punch of color and blush pink and navy is my favorite color combo right now. I remembered I had blush pink in my favorite Christmas wreath so I chose blush pink for the door color. (Door color: Behr Everythings Rosy). While we were doing some updating, I really wanted a secure lock that also had some personality. I chose this Schlage Touch™ Keyless Touchscreen Deadbolt with Century trim paired with Century Handleset and Latitude Lever with Century trim I love the Latitude Lever and chose to use those throughout my home…

  • Guest Room Refresh with Pier 1

Hi friends! Happy Thanksgiving! We are so excited to be sharing the guest room makeover with you. We partnered with Pier 1 to create a space for our guests. So in our home, my oldest son’s room doubles as our guest room. He LOVES volunteering his room (after he’s shown it off and given a full tour, of course) to our guests and he sleeps on our pull-out sleeper sofa. With that in mind, we wanted this space to be something he could be proud of but also neutral enough to fill its guest room roll. We plan on having my husband’s side of the family over for the holidays so we wanted a space that they could enjoy. They are in the airline industry so this room is so perfect for them. We also wanted a little bit of a holiday feel so we added a few fun pieces to make it really feel like those finishing touches were made especially for their visit. We chose this amazing Pierce Java Headboard and matching Pierce Java Bedtime Chest. I love…

  • DIY Pixelated Cactus Artwork

Hi friends! We are so excited to finally be sharing this funky cactus art with you today! This technique that we’re going to teach you is totally customizable and can be made into virtually any shape using any colors! We’re Arizona girls so we loved the idea of a trendy cactus, with pink flowers, of course. Materials Needed: 3×4 sheet of thin plywood, your choice! 1×2 boards for trim (optional) Carpenter’s square ScotchBlue Multi-Surface Painter’s Tape Putty knife Pencil Foam paintbrushes Utility Knife Acrylic Paints Note: Follow all ScotchBlue™ Painter’s Tape package instructions for proper surface cleaning and prep, adhesion and removal. Step 1: Trace a grid of approximately 1” squares on your plywood. We left about a 6” border around the perimeter. Don’t overthink the measurements. This is really flexible.  Step 2: Trace a rough sketch of your cactus shape. Step 3:We recommend sealing the plywood with clear polyurethane before applying tape. Once your poly is dry, tape your traced cactus shape and seal using ScotchBlue Multi-Surface Painter’s Tape around your cactus shape. You will tape off any square that…

  • Mallory’s Prescott View Home: DIY Kitchen Renovation – Part 2: Progress

Hi friends! We’ve made some major progress in our budget friendly kitchen renovation! Don’t forget to check out Part 1 of the kitchen reno here. I have removed most of the countertops to allow me to rearrange our existing cabinetry which saved me upwards of $8,000 by keeping our existing cabinets, instead of replacing them. I hoped that I could remove the countertops and salvage them but when you removed countertops, you never know what shape the boxes of the cabinets are going to be in. One day I rented a hammer drill from Home Depot (about $50) to remove the granite tile countertops. I was able to remove the granite tiles from the plywood that sits on top of the cabinets pretty easily. Make sure you wear gloves and eye protection if you take on this task. It can get messy! I just removed the tile off of the peninsula so I could access the cabinets below. I removed the the tile, a thick layer of mortar and the plywood. Okay now I hope I can explain this part…
