  • Modern Ranch Reno: Master Bedroom Sofa

My master bedroom has been kind of a challenge. It’s a big room but it is a very long room. I did an epic accent wall on one side of the room and I really wanted the other side to be just as epic. I had room for a little sitting area and thats exactly what I wanted. I wanted a show stopper piece and I knew Joybird would have exactly what I was looking for. The best thing about Joybird is that their pieces are custom made and you get to choose the style of furniture and then you get to select the the fabric and the stain of the legs if you are choosing something like a sofa. For the Master Bedroom sofa I choose the Holloway Sofa in the color Dunhill Turquoise. The color is a bit darker and matches the wall color even though since its right next to the window it is reading a bit more blue in pictures. This color and texture of the couch is just so good. It mirrors the accent wall in…

Prescott View Home Reno: Laundry Room Makoever

This post is sponsored by Persil®. All ideas and opinions are our own, always! I am so excited to finally reveal my laundry room makeover. I have had it semi-done for months but I finally put the finishing touches on. Let’s journey back to where we began… This makeover was relatively easy for the result! Like a little effort went a really long way! First, I painted the walls… right over the wallpaper! We plan to shiplap this room soon so I didn’t want to go through the trouble of removing the wallpaper. I sanded the seams and tears in the wallpaper and painted it all a super light grey (almost white!) The paint color is Behr Silver Dust. I added shaker style trim to the cabinets and painted them white. I will eventually replace them with new cabinets that go up to the ceiling but these work great for now! I removed the old vinyl floors and replaced them with my favorite Thirties Vintage Tile. Its porcelain that looks like hand painted cement tile but for a fraction of the…

  • Modern Ranch Reno: The Perfect Sofa for my Office

I recently made some progress on my office.. And I’m really excited to share parts of it with you. A MAJOR part of my office is my new sofa. My office is a room that has kind of been one of the projects at the bottom of my list because it is on the opposite side of my house and no one really ever sees it, except for the fact when I have to go into work I do not feel inspired nor do I enjoy being in there longer than I need to be.  Can you even believe these before pictures… When we moved into the house the office had a horrible wallpaper and the shutters were wood but not in a trendy good wood tone… it was ugly and it all was very outdated.   We painted the shutters white and we got rid of the wallpaper and painted the walls a very very light grey so now I have a bit of a blank canvas. Now it’s a stunning room that just makes me so happy and…

Spring Bonus Room Refresh with Keurig®

This post was created in partnership with Keurig Green Mountain®. All opinions, images, and ideas are my own. Since we chatted last, I have got the Spring Refresh/Spring Cleaning bug and decided to do a few room swaps in our home. We switched my four kiddos into one bedroom and added a playroom. Since we added the playroom, we were able to work the media room into that playroom which freed up this space next to our dining room for an in-home office. It is easily my favorite space to spend time and work in the morning. I love to get my kiddos off to school and enjoy my time sorting through emails and working on our blog in this sunny space. One of my favorite things about this space is my little beverage station. During the Spring, my allergies are literally out of control and I’m constantly dealing with sniffles and an itchy throat. I have been enjoying some herbal teas to help soothe my constant sore throat and my new Keurig® K250 Brewing System has made it so easy and…

  • Modern Ranch Reno: Living Room Flooring Part 1

Finding the right flooring can be really challenging. In the Modern Ranch Reno I struggled because I wanted to keep the existing wood floor that was already throughout a good amount of the house. I have loved the wood looking tile but because of the real wood in my house I knew it would not be an option for me to get the look I wanted to get. I looked into other flooring options and to do that I went to Floor and Decor to see what options I had. I talk more about my visit and how I picked my flooring HERE. This is our Living Room Flooring Part 1. Before we even started to lay the flooring we had to do a lot of work first. Then after it was all ripped out then we had a few decisions to make. We were not going to fill in the formal living room at first and then after the tile came out and we realized that the steps all around the formal living room would not be the look…

Prescott View Home Reno: DIY Kitchen Island

Hello friends! I’m finally sharing my DIY kitchen island with you today! It’s been done for a few months but I wanted it to be perfect (which it’s not) before I shared it. LOL! If you’ve been wanting to build a DIY Kitchen Island but not sure how or think it will be too hard, it’s not! I promise ANYONE can build this. Anyone. First I taped off a general area of where I wanted it and got rough estimates and headed to the Home Depot. I got these three boxes and arranged them in the aisle. It was literally the perfect size! I wanted a lot of drawers and these three were so perfect, in stock and inexpensive! I got home and put them in place. Somehow I carried them each from my car on my own and felt like superwoman. I put 2×4″ screwed into the wooden subfloor and once it was level, I screwed the cabinet bases into the 2×4. Next, I used shims to make the boxes square. After everything was square and solid, I used…

  • Floor & Decor Store Tour

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Floor & Decor. The opinions and text are all mine. This past week, we had the opportunity to tour our local Floor & Decor store. We have partnered up with Floor & Decor to create some awesome room makeovers! We are starting with my (Mallory’s) full master bathroom remodel and Savannah’s laundry room makeover! You guys, it’s going to be insane. As you know, our homes are “fixer uppers” so these spaces need a lot of work! It’s going to be a huge undertaking but we cannot wait to show the progress and full makeovers with you! They literally have something for everyone, for any project! They’re selection is unmatched and they have most of the products in stock! It’s seriously so amazing! What a change from having to go and place large orders at other stores that take forever to come in. They have three main departments; Wood, Tile and Stone. We browsed through the wood department and found gorgeous wood flooring. Here are two of our favorites! The Ash Wirebrushed…

  • Modern Ranch Reno: Paint Colors and the Best Decision I Made on my House

Making decisions can be really hard. I have made some bad decisions and I made some really good ones. One of the very very best decisions was having my walls and ceilings texture smoothed out. It was not a decisions that was made lightly. It is pretty pricey and it makes a HUGE mess. But it was one millions percent worth it!!!!  But before that happened we had to remove the wallpaper. I have a few tips to remove wallpaper and I will share that a bit later. Another really big decisions is paint colors. Paint colors is really really hard. I got some of my samples of my favorite paint colors from my last house and they just did not work in the new house, I also looked up some of my favorite bloggers favorite paint colors and because lighting is way different and everyones house is so different paint colors look different in everyone house and everyones space. This is way paint colors can be so tricky. I really loved what colors we ended up with but first…

Prescott View Home Reno: DIY Kitchen Remodel Reveal

The day has finally come!! It’s reveal day for my DIY Kitchen Remodel! Guys, literally blood, sweat, frustrated tears, curse words, changed minds, tears of joy (for real!) happened during this DIY kitchen remodel. I am SO dang proud of this space, not in like a braggy way but I’m just so glad all of the crazy ideas actually worked and that it’s finally done! I legit DIYed everything except the countertops, BY MYSELF! My hubby did help with the floors and because it takes approximately 1 million years to lay flooring alone but I’m so thrilled with the outcome of our hard work! Oh! My husband and his brother (our go-to electrician!) installed my lights too! I can’t take credit for that! LOL! Before we get on with the DIY Kitchen Remodel REVEAL here’s a refresher of the “before”. Since we moved in, I wanted a new layout/new cabinets but after getting quoted $7,000-10,000 for new cabinets,  I decided to wait on them. One night, laying in bed brainstorming (happens often!) I thought of a genius idea of rearranging the existing cabinets…

  • The wall that changed our entire house

Modern Ranch Reno: The Wall that Changed our Entire House!

It’s crazy that just by removing a wall it can totally change the look and feel of entire house. We wanted an open floor plan and thats what we have now. When we bought this house we had a vision for the living spaces and the day that we got the keys to the house we started the crazy projects. I know I have shared a few of my completed spaces but I want to back track a bit and talk about the wall that changed our entire house.  One of the BEST things we did in our house was take down the wall that was between the formal living room and the living room. This is what the living room looked like before This is what was on the other side of the formal living room area. If you noticed there is a step down in the formal living room which I will get into that a bit later. Also, if you notice the rounded door ways we also changed that up. I did a little video so you…
