Prescott View Home Reno: Master Bedroom Before

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Stearns & Foster. The opinions and text are all mine. Prescott View Home Reno: Master Bedroom Before & Plans I am finally getting around to sharing the plans for my master bedroom! It’s pretty much the last space in the house I haven’t shown much of. I have changed my entire design for this space like 3 times over the last year and I am happy to say I’ve finally figured out what I want! Yeah… it only took a year! Here is my Master Bedroom Before the new makeover. Here’s where my Master Bedroom Before looks like move-in day last June. I brought the furniture from our old house and it sat like that for a long time. Months later I painted all the trim and crown moulding black and decided I liked a more moody vibe. Then I changed my mind. Again. I repainted it all white and knew I needed a brighter, more airy looking space. I installed shiplap, grabbed some new mirrors, a rug, lamps and some…

  • Modern Ranch Reno: Our Black and White Exterior Paint

Paint can make or break a house. I am so grateful that we have been able to partner with Behr Paint on one the biggest changes that we have made on our house. Exterior Paint. When we first drove by our house when it was up for sale it had been listed for 6 months no one had lived there for awhile and everything was totally over grown and out of control. The outside was a mess. The house looked totally outdated and it was far from looking like the modern house that we had been looking for. We searched forever for a house to buy and we REALLY REALLY wanted to stay in the same neighborhood that we were already in. We drove by this one a million times and with a little bit of imagination we started to look at this house differently. Cleaning up the landscape with be a game changer and more importantly paint the house would change everything about the house that I hated. When I say that paint is life changing I mean just…

  • Surprise Teen Girl’s Bedroom Makeover

Today’s teen girl’s room makeover is very, very special to me and near and dear to my heart. Several months ago, I found out that one of my kid’s favorite babysitters, Karli (a teenager we met at church) was soon to undergo major surgery from her pectus excavatum. Pectus excavatum is a congenital disorder which causes the chest to have a sunken or “caved in” appearance. It is the most common congenital chest wall abnormality in children. Often times, this issue is only cosmetic but with our sweet friend Karli, her chest was caving in and pressing on her heart, causing her a number of issues. Karli recently had her surgery to have this corrected, which is a crazy, extensive surgery and has caused her an incredible amount of pain. About a month before her surgery, her mother and I had the idea to surprise her with a bedroom makeover while she was in the hospital having surgery so she would have a special place to come home to recover and hopefully, lift her spirits a bit at this tremendously difficult time…

  • Prescott View Home Reno: Master Bathroom Reveal

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Floor & Decor. The opinions and text are all mine. Friends, I am so beyond excited and elated to finally reveal my master bathroom renovation with you! For the last, roughly, two months, I have put every extra moment of my time and 110% of my energy into renovating this space. When we moved in, it was a very small bathroom that was separated by a wall to our, also small, walk-in closet. The previous space didn’t make the best use of the square footage available. We lost our walk-in closet but we still have another reach-in closet in our room that is plenty of storage space for my husband and I. You can check out all of the before pictures and get an idea of the previous layout in this post. Here is my inspiration board for the space! We partnered with one of our all-time favorite stores, Floor & Decor for all of the tile in this space. They have THE BEST in-stock selection and rock bottom…

  • DIY Spray Painted Barstools

When I moved into my new house one of the things I fell in love with was this covered back patio. I loved that I had a little countertop just off of my kitchen window. I could just imagine feeding my kids out the kitchen window as they played outside. I wanted to do some fun DIY barstools and when I fell in love with this fabric I knew that the perfect accent color for the barstools would be ColorMaster® Paint + Primer in Sun Yellow by Krylon. I got these tired looking barstools from my neighbors next-door that were getting rid of them. I knew it would be a quick and easy fix to give them some new life. Some of the wood was rotting out from them and also the fabric just wasn’t my style. First I collected all of my products that I would need to complete the project I ordered this fabric online. It has really great green colors with a little bit of yellow through some of the leaves. I also got a few cans of Krylon’s…

  • Prescott View Home Reno: How to install wallpaper

Hello friends! Today I’m sharing a tutorial on how to install wallpaper! I have only done this a couple times but I’ve compiled my tips on how to install wallpaper and found what I believe to be the easiest way. I am not a professional in the wallpaper department but I got professional results with the method I used for how to hang wallpaper! Disclaimer: I had zero desire and zero energy to load up my four kids and go buy fancy wallpapering supplies so I’ll show you what basic DIY supplies I used that worked 100% fine. I chose this Kumo Wallpaper from Anthropologie. I used 2 rolls for my 8×13′ wall making my project $156. TOTALLY worth it!!! I loved that it has the trendy shibori look but a little different. First, begin with a clean, dry and smooth (or semi smooth) wall. I have slightly textured walls and I thought about smoothing them out but since they’re smooth to the touch and its a matte paper, I decided to leave them. If you have a metallic paper or…

  • Prescott View Home Reno: Shared Space Room Makeover

Hello friends! I’m so excited to share my boys’ new space with you! A couple months ago, my kids started begging to sleep together. I have 4 little boys and 2 of them shared a room with a twin bed and the other two shared a room with two twin beds (See last space/astronaut bedroom makeover here). After a lot 0f thought and several “trial nights” we decided we’d let them all share a room. This was the BEST decision ever for our kids! They have the BEST time together, they love their room and I know they’ll have countless late nights making memories together. Side note: Today Parker asked me if we can switch it to a Skylanders room and sorry bud, not gonna happen. lol! I measured the longest wall in the room and literally went over every possible situation for squeezing 4 beds into the room. I thought about building my own and shopped every single possible store for the right beds. A couple must-haves included: must be able to fit two sets of beds long-ways on…

  • Modern Ranch Reno: Master Bedroom Sofa

My master bedroom has been kind of a challenge. It’s a big room but it is a very long room. I did an epic accent wall on one side of the room and I really wanted the other side to be just as epic. I had room for a little sitting area and thats exactly what I wanted. I wanted a show stopper piece and I knew Joybird would have exactly what I was looking for. The best thing about Joybird is that their pieces are custom made and you get to choose the style of furniture and then you get to select the the fabric and the stain of the legs if you are choosing something like a sofa. For the Master Bedroom sofa I choose the Holloway Sofa in the color Dunhill Turquoise. The color is a bit darker and matches the wall color even though since its right next to the window it is reading a bit more blue in pictures. This color and texture of the couch is just so good. It mirrors the accent wall in…

  • Modern Ranch Reno: The Perfect Sofa for my Office

I recently made some progress on my office.. And I’m really excited to share parts of it with you. A MAJOR part of my office is my new sofa. My office is a room that has kind of been one of the projects at the bottom of my list because it is on the opposite side of my house and no one really ever sees it, except for the fact when I have to go into work I do not feel inspired nor do I enjoy being in there longer than I need to be.  Can you even believe these before pictures… When we moved into the house the office had a horrible wallpaper and the shutters were wood but not in a trendy good wood tone… it was ugly and it all was very outdated.   We painted the shutters white and we got rid of the wallpaper and painted the walls a very very light grey so now I have a bit of a blank canvas. Now it’s a stunning room that just makes me so happy and…

Spring Bonus Room Refresh with Keurig®

This post was created in partnership with Keurig Green Mountain®. All opinions, images, and ideas are my own. Since we chatted last, I have got the Spring Refresh/Spring Cleaning bug and decided to do a few room swaps in our home. We switched my four kiddos into one bedroom and added a playroom. Since we added the playroom, we were able to work the media room into that playroom which freed up this space next to our dining room for an in-home office. It is easily my favorite space to spend time and work in the morning. I love to get my kiddos off to school and enjoy my time sorting through emails and working on our blog in this sunny space. One of my favorite things about this space is my little beverage station. During the Spring, my allergies are literally out of control and I’m constantly dealing with sniffles and an itchy throat. I have been enjoying some herbal teas to help soothe my constant sore throat and my new Keurig® K250 Brewing System has made it so easy and…

  • Prescott View Home Reno: Master Bathroom before

I’ve been seriously knee deep in insane projects. I have officially taken on the BIGGEST project of my life and its taking every second of my extra time. No complaints here! I’m so excited to do it but man alive, it’s SO much work! I wanted to blog about the process in real-time because I realized when I wait too long, I tend to overlook some of the details which  is not helpful to anyone! ha! A little background… our master bathroom is connected to our bedroom and it is super small. One sink, toilet and a small-ish shower. No storage. ONE sink (not cool!) and NO BATHTUB!!! The first thing I wanted to change about our home was to add a bathtub. Turns out, we needed to fully remodel to accommodate that teeny tiny request of mine. *wink* If you look from our master bedroom, there was an octagon arch walkway (not a door) to the bathroom and very small walk in closet. Actually, it wasn’t tiny but it was totally not functional for the amount of square footage…
