  • Our closet makeovers with The Container Store and HGTV Magazine

Our closet makeovers with The Container Store and HGTV Magazine We’re so excited to announce that we’ve teamed up with The Container Store to give some of our closet makeovers! This was SUCH fantastic timing because our closets were a mess. I am an organizing junkie but after moving our 4 boys into one bedroom, the clothing and organizing situation was a bit out of control. Before The Container Store came to the rescue, we had dressers stacked up on each other in this pink wallpapered closet. Not ideal for my little boys. Oh, we also had half of the clothes in the playroom. Again, not ideal. The day before the amazing installer from The Container Store came to my house, we removed the pink wallpaper and repainted the closet to match the boys’ bedroom. We also removed the doors and will eventually install French doors to the space but now that the closet makeovers looks great, I’m not in a hurry to hide it with doors. The Container Store installed the elfa Custom Closet system for my boys. I am literally shocked…

  • Prescott View Home Reno: DIY Pantry Build and Reveal

Today’s post  DIY Pantry Build is a favorite of mine for several reasons! 1. It added SO much function to our kitchen and our lives and 2. I LOVE how organized and how pretty it is! When we moved into our home this summer, there was no pantry. Whaaaat?! Not gonna fly. I knew this when we bought it, obviously and had grand plans of making my dream pantry.   My old house had the most incredible pantry and is still a favorite on the blog and on Pinterest. Side story: I met this girl the other night and she was asking about our home renovation since she is doing one too. Then, I pulled up a photo of my kitchen progress and she saw my glass jars from my previous pantry makeover and explained that she saw and saved the same jars in a pantry on Houzz. I mentioned it could’ve been my last home and she pulled up a screenshot on her phone and it was my house! What!?! So crazy! It was quite the conversation piece since we…

  • 13 Quick and Easy Bathroom Organization Tips

January means full fledge organizing mode right? Time to purge, organize, declutter and clean! I always get the urge to get my home in order after the holidays. I’m going to be working on my bathroom makeover (phase 1) this week. I have big plans for my full bathroom renovation but that won’t be for a few months so I’m going to try a few temporary techniques (like I did for our master bathroom in our last house!) for upgrading our bathroom to make it look fresh and updated without spending a bunch of money until #demoday comes! Mostly I’m repainting everything existing just until we begin the full renovation. We plan on expanding our bathroom to gain space for a bathtub and some more storage. Until then, I’ll be using these organization tips to utilize the space we have! PS. Did you catch our kids bathroom renovation and reveal? It’s one of my favorites! • Prescott View Home Reno: Garage Makeover Progress and Getting Organized

When you’re tackling a home renovation, the garage becomes Grand Central Station and you spend a LOT of time working in it. We found ourselves constantly going in and out of the garage making cuts with various saws, grabbing supplies, recharging tools and everything you could imagine. We decided to tackle the garage makeover first so we could organize our tools and DIY supplies so we weren’t digging through boxes throughout months of renovation. Here’s what it looked like when we moved in, sans 1 million boxes that got loaded into the house. Oh boy! See, chaos. I needed a way to organize all of my stuff and have the garage function. There were several random cabinets on a couple walls in the garage so I rearranged them onto one wall so it made more sense. I painted them white so it felt brighter and a little more updated. I created a little desk area and used a sheet of melamine on top to create a table top. I installed a peg board to hang tape and tools and put shelving by…

  • DIY Custom Labels + My Garage Organization progress

This post is sponsored by Silhouette America. All ideas and opinions are my own. HOORAY! Today we’re talking organization; one of my favorite topics! I recently tackled my garage for all of the odds and ends of the household and created a functional (and cute!) storage solution for all of that stuff that doesn’t have “a home”. In our house, every item needs a home. If something doesn’t have a home, it doesn’t get put away properly and eventually gets lost, broken or forgotten. Do you have these items? Things like a random picnic blanket, random party supplies, in between or out of season clothing, memorabilia, car accessories or seasonal items seem to be the trend at our house. I also wanted a visible, safe place for my Christmas and various holiday decor. Christmas is my major decor holiday, which I feel like maybe its that way for most people(??). For other holidays, I have a few items I throw up or a lot of times I will make a few items here or there for holidays. I’m going to show you…

  • Mallory’s Girly Office Makeover

Pretty in pink! I am love with the office space in my new office. It’s the perfect place for me to create, do vinyl orders and even sit and watch Friends. For real. I did bright white and pops of pink and gold throughout the room and I love the turn out. I painted the swash of pink and added my custom made Classy Clutter sign from LetterCraft. My favorite woodworking artists and my neighbors! I created a gallery wall effect on the main wall right when you walk in and used our DIY Acrylic Calendar (See our tutorial here on A Beautiful Mess and/or you can purchase calendar decal here) I used my glittered CREATE letters again from my old craft room, watercolored the flamingo and made a few prints using Heidi Swapp’s Minc Machine. I mean, the gold foiled leopard is my favorite! For the craft island, I took 4 cube organizers and used a huge sheet of melamine on the top and screwed them all together. The flamingo details just make me so happy! You can purchase them…

  • Personalized Faux Mudroom

Hi friends! I’m pretty excited because today is another Michael’s Makers challenge! This month we were challenged to personalize something. The best part about creating in your home is being able to put your own spin on a project. Whether it’s decorating with marquee lights or crafting an initial that represents your family name, Michaels has made it easy with their new Alphabet Soup by Make Market™ line of products. I chose the first initial of each of my children for this project. I knew right away what I wanted to do and I’m so pleased with the turn out. Since school started, we have battled backpacks, lunch boxes, diaper bags, purse, and jacket piles. Pretty much everywhere! I tried doing hooks in the garage and that ended up looking like Monica Geller’s secret closet so that was a no-go. We had this blank wall in the hallway and I thought it could be a great space to add some hooks for my purse, the kids backpack and the babies diaper bag. Throw in some personalized letters and you’ve got some happy kids (and…

  • Organizing Tips For the New Year

How I love the fresh start of the New Year!  It’s so incredibly cold where I live so I stay indoors and use the New Year as an excuse to clean and organize my entire house. When Christmas comes down, the labels and color-coordinating begins! Today, I am going to share some of my favorite Organizing Tips For the New Year and all my “go-to” containers to organize anything and everything! I just feel that if all things have a place, it helps to make this CRAZY yet wonderful, kid-raising life feel a little bit more smooth, or at least I like to think so Labels…For me labels don’t need to be fancy.  A lot of time I just go on my computer, choose a font I like and print away. Every once in a while I do take the time to laminate the paper so the labels will hold up.  The general rule of thumb is to make sure your labels are easy to read, especially while labeling for your children. For about 3 months, I didn’t have labels on the boys’ striped bins and…
