Prescott View Home Reno: Living Room Makeover

Hey friends! I’m back today to share our living room makeover with you! Yesterday I shared our fireplace remodel and since it’s directly connected to the fireplace, I thought it would be fitting to share my living room makeover today!

Okaaaaay, so here is our “move in day” version of our living room. It’s incredible to me how much I loved this sofa and rug in our old house but how it totally didn’t work for me in this house! The sofas seemed too low and the rug was so not the look or color I wanted in here. Out with the old…

Savannah and I painted the walls (Behr – Silver Polish, which is a suuuuuper light, almost white grey with a cool undertone) and it helped make it feel more fresh. I got this new rug (Rugs USA) and the sofas from Living Spaces and loved where it was going then… nothing. Like, it’s fine but I wasn’t feeling it. I loved the sofas but my husband hated that they were velvet. Hate is a strong word but totally appropriate for his feelings towards them. ha! I can’t find the velvet ones on their website anymore but here are the same sofas in a different fabric. I sold them to a friend and put the old sofas back. Everything still felt soooo grey. I like grey but it felt boring and blah even with all of my colorful accents. I moved the rug into my master bedroom and I like it so much better in there. So this is the other side of the space.

It felt so separated from the rest of the house and the layout was less than ideal. I removed the wall (here) and remodeled the fireplace (here) and I installed new laminate flooring. Full tutorial coming soon!

Opening up the wall made a HUGE difference in our home and gave me the look and feel that I envisioned from the very first time I walked through the house when it was for sale.

Here it is with the wall all opened up.

Our entry way is one of my favorite spaces. I got the entry table from Wayfair. (no longer available, similar here). The lamps are from HomeGoods (similar here). Mirror is from At Home.

The runner is from RugsUSA and I also have it in a larger size in our bonus room.

My sofas are the KIVIK collection from Ikea but I recently added legs to them. In our last home, I liked that they sat low to the ground but in this space they felt way too low. I like them so much more sine adding the legs. I’ll share a tutorial on that soon!

I added different pops of color in the pillows and decor since most of the room is neutral and if you’ve been around here at all, you know I love color! The coffee table is from At Home also.  I switched out the rug to this brighter one, which I love but my kids and puppy have sure been testing its durability so we’ll see how long it lasts!

The frames above my couch are from Whimzical Woods. The print on the left is The Proclamation to the World, a very special document to me. You can learn more about it here. The beautiful photo in the center is by the very talented Brittney Gurr Photography. I designed the Roman numeral print on the right with our wedding date on it. If you’re interested in this or any other oversized prints, Savannah carries super cute prints in her Etsy shop, Classy Clutter Print Co.

I’ve linked as many products as I could find online below for you. This room really is the center of our home now that it is open to our kitchen and we really love this space! Tutorials to come! Thanks for stopping by!
