Modern Ranch House: Savannah’s New House!

Can you even believe that Mallory and myself both bought new houses in the same year just a few months a part?!?!?! Which you can see all the details about Mallory’s house if you search #mallorysprescottviewhouse. It has been a crazy whirlwind for us this year and I can’t even wait to share all the details about my new house. You can follow my house details by searching #savannahsmodernranchhouse.

This is our Fixer Upper

Now, let me start from the beginning. My husband, Kyle has a plumbing company in Az called Northstar Plumbing and I have been doing hair for the last 12+ years and so all banks hate us since we are self employed. We have rented ever since we were married. It has been a little over ten years now and in the last 1-2 years we have been working towards buying our own house. Like we have both been working so hard.. like I could cry just thinking about how much and how hard we have worked for this and we finally did it!!!

Here is my story of how we got our Fixer Upper

I have been looking at houses for about a year and a half and we started working with Brandon and Becky Staples of the First Colony Mortgage since about January. We talked with them first and got our paperwork into them to make sure we had all of our ducks in a row before we even stepped foot into any house. We had our house set on this one house in Gilbert that was in such an amazing neighborhood on an acre piece of property but it had a million hoops to jump through. First, it was burnt down… like for reals burnt down to the ground. The owner before had burnt it to the ground one night because he did not want to the ex-wife to sell the place and so after it was in contract with someone else he burnt it to the ground and is not currently in jail. My husband and myself wanted it sooo bad we drove by there all the time and I could daydream about us living there. But over the period of a few months we found out that it would be so hard for us to get approved for a house like that and the people that were in contract before it was burnt to the ground still wanted it. We knew it was not meant to be and I was totally heartbroken. Like so heartbroken I took about a month off from even opening up my zillow app to even check out what was new out there. During that time my daughter Leesie found out what school teacher she was going to have this year in school and in that moment I knew that I wanted to stay in my same neighborhood. It was like an outer body experience I just knew I wanted to stay around here in Mesa. We started asking around the neighborhood if anyone knew any houses that would be listed soon. You see in our neighborhood a lot of houses are just sold by word of mouth so we started talking about it to anyone that would listen. We got our Realtor Dano Shreeve on board to start looking around the neighborhood to help us find something. There was a house for sale in the neighborhood but it was way out of our price range and I knew we would never get it although I totally loved it. One day I was drove by that house and I then called Dano to see if we could ever possibly get this house. You see the house had been on the market since January and no one had lived there since then and the house was needing some major love and so I wanted to know if it was at all possible to get it in our price range. He made a few calls we went in to check out the house it was in major need of some updating.

We went ahead and put in the offer and I knew it was a total long shot. Like for reals long shot. Then of coarse they countered and we countered again.

Then it was my birthday…. and this happened…

I mean can we just talk about emotional. I was a hot mess!

I was sooooo excited like on cloud nine and I did not stop smiling, then that smiles starts to wear off a bit after you start on the emotional roller coaster of getting the loan stuff all worked out. I mean its insane. It is full of many ups and many downs. At one point about a week before we were going to close we thought the deal would not go through, there was some paperwork from the IRS that was not what they wanted and then for days I could not think about anything else. Then after the IRS paperwork was approved I could breathe a bit better then we waited for the final approve and when that day came it was seriously the best day ever!!!

It was about 4 months after we put in the offer that we signed the papers and I was so excited!!! It really was a day I hope I never forgot.

WOW.. that was a long story. Now that you know a bit more about the details behind the house here it is…

This is our before picture of our Modern Ranch Style House.

When you walk in the front door you running right into this view of the side of the fireplace. It’s a double side fireplace and on one side of the fireplaces it’s kind of an odd and unused space.

When I was looking for a house I knew I needed a pantry. Right now my pantry and the laundry room share a space and it is always a mess in there.

We really need to trim up the trees and bushes in the back and then I think we will be all set.

We already have a million plans for the house, and we love that we get to stay in the same neighborhood and that our kids to get to go to the same school.
