Michael’s Makers: Dream Christmas Tree Challenge

Michael’s Makers: Dream Christmas Tree Challenge

Hi friends! Can you believe it’s already November and the holiday season is upon us? Today marks the official “okay” to start decorating for whichever holiday you want. Christmas included!! You have our permission. 😉  This year as part of the Michael’s Makers Creative Team, we were asked to create our own Dream Tree! The Dream Tree Challenge is highly anticipated every year and each and every year, the Michael’s Makers create the most unbelievable Christmas Trees!

We started with the 7.5′ Pre-lit Hartford Tree and it’s gorgeous. It’s nice and full with a ton of great white lights. Psst… From now until November 14, you can get FREE shipping on all Christmas trees that are 6ft or taller on Michaels.com! Yay! We highly recommend the Hartford tree and it’s a great price.

We wanted to create a beautiful, feminine tree that captures our style and personality so we chose pink, gold and white and incorporated some glittery ornaments, large florals and some larger elements. We’re also going to show you our step-by-step guide to decorating your own Dream Tree!

Step one: Assemble your tree and check the lights- Nothing is worse than decorating your whole tree and realizing some of your lights don’t work. We LOVE these big bulb lights because they create a really cool ambiance when the tree is lit. So pretty!

Step two: Ribbons and garlands- Next, add your ribbons, garlands and basically anything on a spool or that will wrap around the perimeter of your tree. We chose this gold mesh 21″ wide ribbon. It looks soooo wide for a Christmas tree but once you put it on, it is gorgeous and makes a statement.

Step 3: Florals, Picks, Sprays – We wanted a lot of flowers on our tree because we basically love floral anything. We found these oversized pink florals at Michaels and added those in first since they were the biggest. Then we added in some icy pink poinsettias, white hydrangeas and these large pink rose stems. Michael’s has a ton of gorgeous single stems that work wonderfully in a tree!

Step 4: Large Elements – If you look at any designer tree, they almost always, if not ALWAYS have larger elements in their trees. We used these lightweight paper maché deer statues and shoved them in between branches. They are so cute!

Step 5: Toppers (Sprays and branches) – We used gold glittered branches (could be an awesome DIY project, and these amazing giant snow ball sprays for the top. We had them coming all out of the top of the tree for some height and texture.

Step 6: Ornaments – We gathered a bunch of large bulbs, glittery snow balls, large glittered pinecones and some stunning glittery angel wings for our tree. Everything was found in Michaels in the holiday section. We love their selection this year.

  1. Hi Mallory and Savannah,
You girls did a beautiful STUNNING job on this tree! I’m a little pea green with envy that I didn’t think of this idea myself. LOL. 😉

This whole space is so chic and shabby but has such a nice sense of balance with the subtle geometric pattern in the rug, and the touches of gold really add so much warmth.

This is just gorgeous. I pinned it, too.
