Home Decor Ideas: DIY Sharpie Walls

Okay, two-ish years ago I saw my first Sharpie Wall.  Love at first sight. It was the most engenious, amazing thing I’ve ever seen. Shockingly, it was from my girl, Mandi at Vintage Revivals. That was the most sarcastic comment I’ve ever made because if anyone is going to think of something so magical, it’s gonna be her. SO not shocked. That being said, I’ve seen a billion amazing renditions of Sharpie Walls and I ain’t never seen a Sharpie Wall I didn’t like. Savannah and I both have them in our homes and it’s basically THE most inexpensive, personal and unique wall treatments out there. Oh yeah, say it with me Sharpie PAINT. PEN. Not regular ole Sharpie Permanent Marker. Sharpie. Brand. Paint. Pen. Phew! Here are some of our absolute faves!

Here’s Mandi’s DIY Sharpie Wall that got our wheels turning. She’s the bomb.

I used Mandi’s tutorial to create the same look in my home here.

This white on yellow one in her Nugget (her vintage travel trailer) is rad too! Check out her DIY Diamond Sharpie “wallpaper” tutorial here.

Here’s her other amazing one. Like People Magazine amazing, you guys. For real, this room was featured in People Magazine. Told you, rock star! Click here for this Sharpie Wall Tutorial from Vintage Revivals.

Savannah and I both had a Sharpie Scalloped Wall in our houses but they went different directions.

When we did Creating with the Stars, we created the same look but added wood scallops to it. It’s still my favorite project…ever!

Elsie’s handwriting (from A Beautiful Mess) is basically famous, and for good reason. Check out here Handwritten Sharpie Wall Tutorial here.

I love this Sharpie Stenciled Horse wall treatment from A Beautiful Mess too!

I love this $5 Nursery Arrow Wall done in yellow and white Sharpie Paint Pens from Preparing for Peanut, too!

This dreamy gold and white triangle wall is just plain genius! I love the abstract look!

This alternating Diamond Pattern one from The Bold Abode is similar to Mandi’s but her twist on it is awesome! Gold and White for the win…again!

Lastly, this one done in the hallway from The Girl on the Go TOTALLY looks like wallpaper and she basically nailed it!

  1. Ahh. No link to the last image? The Girl on the Go sharpie wall? Was hoping for a tutorial on that one. It would look PERFECT in our dining room.

  2. These are all awesome, but I don’t think there’s anyway I could trust myself to use sharpies on my walls and not mess it up!

  3. This is super innovative! It seems like it would be extremely time-consuming, but that’s the only downside! After moving into a house with floor-to-celing wallpaper in every room (in some rooms, they didn’t even prime the walls first. Just wallpaper straight on drywall…ugh), I love this alternative.
