DIY Polka Dot Burlap Curtains

Burlap Polka Dot Curtains_Text

A while back, Savannah and I both showed you our own renditions of our ruffled burlap curtains. They are basically the same but we did two different ruffle methods. I love love love them and get tons of compliments on them in my little dining room. They’re perfect in there. Then, I had the genius idea of adding polka dots. Pretty much everything looks cuter with polka dots (or stripes or glitter…just sayin.)

Burlap Curtains Before

See, we have a teeny little dining space so I like to keep things light and airy in there to make it appear bigger. You can read my tips on making your kitchen look and feel bigger here. Anyways, I really like the burlap because even though its a warm color, the weave still allows for light to come in this room through the window.

Supplies:

Your new burlap curtains you made from this tutorial

Acrylic Paint (I used American warm white from Michaels)

Round Foam Brush the size you’d like your polka dots to be.

Instructions:

Lay the burlap over some paper so paint doesn’t leak onto your surface. I used white wrapping paper.

Lay Burlap Curtain on paper

I used a mason jar lid to pour some of the paint onto.

Paint Materials for Polka Dots

Use your round brush like a stamp and start stamping your dots. I “eyeballed” the placement but you can plan and measure if you’d like.

Halfway DoneHere it is halfway done! PS. This room is sooo hard to photography. The flooring and the wood table top give the weirdest, yellowey color casts and it’s driving me nuts. Photog friends, help! haha!

Done! This literally took me like 40 minutes to do and I love the turn out.

I love how they turned out. Normally you can find another little bench and a high chair crammed into that little space for all my kiddos. 🙂
