For this mantel we did some pretty simple decor that gives a definite WOW factor! First, we jazzed up a chalkboard with a fun “Cheers 2014” design. (If you’re looking for a statement chalkboard, contact Savannah at classyclutter4 (at) gmail (dot) com)

Next, garlands! We used three different types of garlands on this display. Layering multiple garlands gives the illusion layers and makes it look super jazzy which is exactly what you want for new years!

Next, we used metallic tissue paper and made the fringe garland. It’s super easy to make if you’ve never done it before.  You take your tissue paper and fold it as wide as you want your garland to be. We folded it and cut 3″ fringe on each side of the folded paper leaving about a half inch section in the middle. Unfold and tape it to the ceiling. You may need to tape two together to make a really long one. Twirl a bit for a spiral effect. So fun!

  1. This is so cute!! Unfortunately we have a wedding reception and another huge NYE party to go to somewhere else so I am going to skip decorating for New Years but I LOVE your garland idea.. The gold could definitely be used again for St Patricks Day and just throw in some green (:
