Living Room Re-Re-Reveal!

Are you sick of my living room updates/plans yet? 🙂 If you follow along, my living room has come a long long way since we moved in about a year and a half ago. To refresh your memory, we moved in without any furniture. We moved to New York from Arizona with our clothes, toiletries and some family photos and documents. That’s pretty much it!
A year ago, it was 3 months after we moved in, my living room looked like this…
It had a few cute things going on… but the couch, the carpet without a rug, and the lack of appropriate sized wall decor drove me nuts.
I finally got a couch, a gallery wall, a rug and ditched the pink accents and we got here
You can see I also painted stripes in the hallway to match.
Finally, we got the “go-ahead” from our landlords to refinish the wood floors hiding underneath the carpet.
YAY! The floors made such a huge difference in the room. But, it changed the feel of the room for me. It felt more updated, modern and fresh. That got my little wheels turning and I decided I wanted to switch things up a bit!
Fast forward a few months… I bought and painted the new tv console coral and gold. I added some coral throw pillows, reupholstered and painted the window bench and made some new DIY artwork for above the sofa. Well friends, that brings us to what you see here today!

Close up of the coral tv console.
 Here’s another view…

Carter (my 3 year old boy) and I painted the artwork above the sofa. I simply bought a giant frame from a yard sale and repainted the frame white and gold. Then I got a board cut to size and painted the colorful abstract design on it using different acrylic paints and painters tape. Easy and cute!

One more close up of the bench because I love it so much!
Just for fun and because I love progression photos…
All I need to do now is get some pillow inserts for the navy pillows I’m making and I need to get some stinkin’ new lamp shades (I can’t find them anywhere!!!)
Crazy change right?! Maybe it’s just me but it feels so different with the new flooring and more color!

  2. Beautifully done. I love to see something come from a wee bit of styling to absolutely stunning decor. It feels so homey. Have you thought about making the lampshades yourself or to revamp an older shade or two? Thank you Mallory for showing us your gorgeous home.

  5. Thank you for the reminder that a room can change again and again until you like it or until you change it again. I just moved into my house and i feel like whatever I do is going to be permanent.

p.s I was wondering if you could email the color you used on your walls. That is the grey I want to use for my spare bedroom that is a dusty rose color at the moment. rkrobinson9@yahoo.com
