Scattered thoughts and Inspiring Living Spaces

Hi everyone! Thanks for stopping by today! Today I want to talk living rooms. Here’s what I’m working with. I like it. I love the colors, I love our new flooring… BUT I’m bored.
I was originally inspired by House of Smith’s color palette in her gorgeous living space
While I’m still obsessed with it, I want to add more. I think coral… I think. I really truly love the neutral I have going on with the aqua and yellow because I can really add or subtract color as I please. The only problem is just going for it!
If you take a look at my pinterest board, it’s pretty clear that I like the fun coral color that is ever so popular right now.
I already purchased some coral pillow fabric and a new tv console that is sitting in my garage waiting to be painted. Now I just need to muster up the courage to go for it! What do you think? Is coral too trendy and going to be “out” soon or do you think it’s awesome like I do??
I think my first step will to be to to make the coral pillows and prep the tv console while I decide what color to paint it. I asked Savannah and she said to do the coral. She reminded me that “it’s just paint and I could always paint it again”. She’s right, I know.
Here are some more inspiring, bright and fun living spaces for you.
Well that’s all folks! What do you think? Should I add more color so it’s not such a strict color palette in the room? Coral? What other colors do you think would “go” in here?

  1. I like coral, too, but you could do more with the color palate you already have and spice it up. Don’t they say that changing accessories is a way to cheaply” redo a room? Anyway…

Lamps – I think the two might be a little matchy-matchy but maybe jazzing up the lampshades would help. Those bold, funky lamps deserve a little jazz on the topside. 😀

I think your photo wall needs some color. In your inspiration foto she has the yellow and turquoise more prominently favored in her pics. Maybe you could add more color punch by painting the N? Paint the chalkboard frame? put a bow on the tree?

Add another, brighter, couch pillow. The one you have is pretty understated.

Curtains? That is one of the things that stood out to me in the additional pics you put at the end is the color and pattern brought in on the window treatments.

And while this doesn’t have anything to do with color, the room looks scrunched by the window. Is it possible to pull the couch farther to the left (maybe even ditch that end table?) and then pull the two chairs a little farther away from the window, overlapping onto the rug? (which I think is how they’re “supposed” to be, if I remember correctly why one decor guru says)

I could never look at my own room and see the changes that need could be made, but your room is already cute and fun. I say stick with what you got, just add/ subtract to change it up.

    1. Just noticed one more thing, the pillows/lamp shades/curtains is where you can bring in more pattern. The last 3 photos are FILLED with pattern which you don’t really have any of. (I read another blog called Design with Christine and she mentions constantly that you should have 3 patterns – small, med, and large – in your room. I don’t know that I personally could find 3 patterns that “matched” and didn’t look dumb together, but that’s what she says to do, anyway. lol)

    2. thats exactly what i wanted to type-every point-u saved me a whole lot of writing:)i would exchange the end end table by window by a round one that would tie together the chair and couch.
also, blk curtain rod is too thin and doesnt match anything-needs a bit of a bigger “statement”
