How to make a Subway Art Sign

DIY Subway Art Sign
I haven’t always been a fan of the subway art fad but I’ve seen a couple I love… Like Shelley’s at House of Smiths! She’s amazing!  Here’s how I did it. I did mine a little different then Shelley’s but I was going for the same look! First. I painted my board a dark grey and let it dry.

I designed my Subway art on my Silhouette software but I had to cut it in a few separate pieces since my board was so big. It worked out really well.

Then, I cut and applied the vinyl where I wanted it on my board. I painted over the entire board with a white trim paint I had lying around.
Before it dried completely, my sweet hubs and I picked off alllllll of the lettering. By the time we were done, some of it had completely dried so it peeled a little in some spots but I don’t mind it.

I used a picture hanging little jobby (what the heck are these called anyway?!) so I could hang it on the wall.

I distressed the whole thing to expose some of the grey underneath!  Now it hangs here above my new couch!!! Boo to the yah!

I couldn’t be happier! It is so personal and I just love it!
