Beautiful DIY Sheet Music Angel Wings

My Dear Sweet Nana past away a few moths ago and I have been wanting to doing something for
my mother that would remind her of her mother.
Right before Christmas I came across some angel wings made from old books, I saved the picture but I had no idea which blog I saw this project from.
( I need to be better about saving the links where I find Inspiration)
My Nana LOVED music and has a
very large collection of music new and old.
I went over to meet with my Pa (her husband) and I picked up some old music then went to my father in laws house and made
100 copies on ivory paper that is
not quite card stock but not as thin as normal paper
(got it as Staples, they have different sample types of paper)
then copied front and back of my nana’s music to make this Sheet Music Angel Wings.
I got foam poster board and I drew two angels wings then I cut them out with a exacto knife.
(if you are going to make this, know that whatever size you cut it’s going to be quite a bit bigger )
This is one side of the wings,
I cut the paper in half then I rolled up each piece then taped each one into a cone,
it took quite a bit of time.
total I used about 80 cones on each wing.
Then I hot glues the cones onto the foam board,
I first laid the cones out to make sure I liked how placement.
I pointed most of the cone tip downward, the center was a little tricky, I just went around in a circle and then the last cone I bent and so it was sticking up in the center, but it covered really well.
The center sign is what holds the wings together
I just printed the word Love on the card stock cut it into an oval. The oval shape is better to hold the wings together.
I used wired ribbon then pulled one side of the wire to make it ruffle, then I cut the foam board an exact oval as the Love sign then hot glued the ruffle on the outside of the foam board then glued the Love sign on the foam board.
then I glued the Love sign in between the two wings.
In order to hang the wings
I bought command hang strips put them on the the back
of the wings then stuck it to the wall.
The material for these Sheet Music Angel Wings cost about $30
the paper alone cost $17 and
it took about 2 hours
It was total worth it!
It means a lot that it was used with my Nana’s music and
I gave it to my mom for Valentines Day!
She LOVED it.
My moms house is still being worked on because of her house fire,
so these wings are going to grace my home until she moves back in,
I do love it on my vintage windows,
I may have to make another one for myself!
What do you think?

  3. I love this…ran across this while looking for angel wings on Google. I make paper wreaths similar to this and love the idea of changing things up a bit, I’m going to try this out! Thanks for sharing.

  4. Thank you so much for this post! My daughter just saw a set a wings very much like these in an antique shop in town , she loved then but there was no way I could/would spend $85 on them. I told her we would look around and i think you have just saved me. Again, thank you… I love how yours turned out and the meaning behind them. Also i love them on your windows!
